Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Sri Sri Sri Maa Ashtalaxmi Darshan at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad Jnana Yajana on the occasion of 10th Anniversary of Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan & Chidananda Dhyan Mandir ( April 25, 2010 – May 3, 2010 ) 66th Birthday Celebration of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj It was special worship and satsang time for devotees at the Ashram from April 25, 2010 to May 3, 2010. A Jnana Yajana was organized on the auspicious occasion of 10th anniversary day of Sri Sri Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan & Sri Chidananda Dhyana Mandir. One after another holy satsang kept on refreshing devotees with cool & peaceful breeze of Divine even in hot scorching days of April. It culminated on May 3, 2010 with Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji’s Praktya Utsav (Birthday celebration). Devotees were overjoyed to receive satsang and blessings of so many Mahatmas during these nine days. Highlighting the events during nine days….. It commenced with group chanting of Mahamrutyanjaya Chanting for world peace on April 25, 2010 and continued every morning and evening during all nine days. There were three mega yoga sessions conducted by Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji on April 4, 2010, April 25, 2010 and May 3, 2010 for Yoga group run at different locations. It was arranged for the benefits of more people to avail Swamiji’s Yoga teaching. On April 25, 2010 evening satsang began with Bhajans by Shri Dhaivat Shukla. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji in his inaugural speech stressed the importance of “Daily Sadhana”; He said that Sadhana is must. Life is series of experiences and struggle towards the perfection. Be true to thy own Self. We have Guru Krupa, we have Shashtra Krupa, what we need is Atma Krupa to follow spiritual disciplines. Bhagavatacharya Sri Swami Pranavanandaji, a disciple of Bhagavatacharya and Vedantacharya, late Sri Swami Akhandanandaji Maharaj laid importance of purity and Truthfulness to incorporate in your daily transaction to achieve success in Sadhana. Sri Madhavprasadji of Swaminarayan Gurukul talked about root cause of sufferings is living the life of untruthfulness, unrighteousness and delusion. He stressed the importance purity, honesty and truthfulness to achieve peace while following Jivan-Sadhna. On April 26, 2010 evening satsang started with devotional bhajan by Smt. Mayurikaben Oza. Brahmacharini Chaitanya Mataji of Sivananda Ashram, Kendrapada (Orissa) and Bhagavatacharya Shri Kanaiyalaji of Maninagar, Ahmedabad spoke on the subjects of Divya Jivan Sadhna and Dhyan-sadhana. Revered Mataji stressed the need for service, love, charity, meditation, purity and self realization base of Yoga of Synthesis laid out by Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. She summarized that salvation is possible only through Karma, Bhakti and Jnana. Pujya Sri Kanaiyalaji conducted guided meditation. On April 27, 2010 evening satsang began with melodious singing of Dr. Smt. Bansariben Bhatt. H. H. Sri Swami Viditanandaji Maharaj of Tatvatirth shared words of wisdom of Vedanta Sadhana. He shared practical tips to live Vedanta in daily life. It was inspiring to hear Him. On April 28, 2010 the play on life and teachings of Sri Adi Shankaracharya was stage at Town Hall, Ahmedabad. It was written by Swamini Vidhya Prakashananda Mataji and directed by Dr. Vikram Panchal. Artists of Tatvatirth acted on the stage. The hall was packed to its highest capacities. Among those who remained present to grace the occasion were Acharya Sri Swami Vishwesaranandaji Maharaj of Sri Mahanirvani Akhada, Mahamandleshwar Sri Vishwambhar Bharatiji of Panchdashnam Juna Akhada, Mahamandleswar Sri Kalyanand Bharatiji, Sri Swami Satyanandaji, the newly appointed Mahamandleshwar of Gita Mandir, Ahmedabad, Sadhvi Sri Rutambharaji and Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. On April 29, 2009 Brahmotsava of Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan and Sri Swami Chidananda Yoga– Dhyan Mandir was celebrated with early morning Sri Yantra Pooja by Shri Jitubhai Chauhan and Sri Swami Gurusevanandaji Maharaj together with Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, Sri Navchandi Yajna and recitation of sacred Sri Durga Saptapati, in praise of God as Mother during the day. In the evening Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj offered final oblation in the sacred fire. It concluded with Aarati at Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan and Maha prasad. Devotional singing by Dr. Rajal Shukla and Sri Yogendra Vora group at night was attended by large number of devotees. On April 30, 2010 evening satsang started with Miss Himali’s Bhakti-Sangeet. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji enlightened devotees on Japa Sadhna for spiritual up liftment in life. Continuous Japa can bring the experience of super consciousness and ultimately salvation was the theme of His discourse. On May 1, 2010 is a Golden Jubilee year of Gujarat state. There was a grand celebration organized by state government. But people did not miss to attend the satsng at Sivananda Ashram. Sri Swami Parmatmanandaji Maharaj of Arsha Vidya Mandir, Munjaka, Rajkot, and also the General Secretary of National Acharya Parishad made thought-provoking speech on the subject of Jnana-Sadhana. Miss Himali’s Bhakti Sangeet charmed the people, as always. Sri Swami Parmatmanandaji enlightened the deathless, decay less and imperishable nature of the SELF. The realization of the SELF is achieved through self enquiry, surrender to Guru and daily Sadhana was the essence of His talk. On May 2, 2010 evening satsang began with Bhakti Sangeet by family of Shri Devesh Dave. The thoughts on very practical subject of “Atitude Sadhana,’ so important in day to day living was shared by Sri Mukeshbhai Patel, who has gathered a wide variety of experiences as a successful entrepreneur. One can achieve highest realities of life” Aham Brahmasmi “with right attitude to start with and conscious efforts in right direction, was the spirit behind his words. Sri Mukeshbhai has served as president of Ahmedabad Management Association, president of Gujarat chamber of commerce in the past. He is a well known columnist on income-tax for leading news-papers. He is a President of Gujarat Red Cross Society. On May 3, 2010 with great devotion and enthusiasm devotees at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad, celebrated 66th the birthday of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. As always, it was celebrated in a spiritual way in the holy presence learned Saints. Children’s Camp (May 4, 2010 to May 9, 2010 ) Children’s sweet sound filled the ashram’s campus as the children’s camp for self-development was conducted during May 4, 2010 to May 9, 2010 . Other than Yogasan, Pranayam, Meditation, Reiki, Karate, Indian Classical Music, Painting, Story Telling, Games, Japa & Mantra Chanting were taught during the camp. On the evening of May 9, 2008, a grand valedictory function was held, which was attended by the parents. All the children were bubbling up with joy. They presented a small show, classical music & demonstrated yogasana, which they had, learn during the preceding five days. Certificates were awarded to the participants. 20th YTTC ( May 20, 2010 to May 30, 2010) – 20th YTTC was held through “SIVA Yoga Center” at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad, under the guidance and leadership of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandji. Our team of Yoga Teachers including Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, Dr. Varsha Dave (Gynecologist), Dr. Bharat Trivedi (Dean, VS Medical College), Dr. Amish Kshatriya (Orthopedic Surgeon), Dr. Vishal (Diabetologist), Dr. Ira Patel (Pathologist), Mrs Chiidrupini Kshatriya (Dietician), Smt Roopa Majumdar (Reiki Master), Ms. Sangeeta Thawani (Yoga teacher) conducted the classes during the course. Participants came from different parts of India and one from Winnipeg Canada. On May 30, 2010, Dr. Manoj Soni, Vice-chancellor of Ambedkar Open University awarded certificates to participants on successful completion of the course. 743 rd Yoga camp It was organized from May 24, 201 0- June 2, 2010 at the ashram and large numbers of new people were enrolled. 15th Lord Sri Vishwanath Mahadev Patotsav (May 20, 2010) – A grand Laghu Rudra Yajana was organized from early dawn to mid day. At holy Sri Abhijat muhurta, final oblation was offered by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. At the dusk holy Bhasma aarati was performed. Large number of devotees received Maha Prasad (Bhandara) after the evening Arati. On May 15, 2010 Ashram was graced by the visit of H. H. Sri 1008 Jagat Guru Shankaracharya of Sri Kanchi Kam Koti Peetam, Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal. His Holiness was received with traditional worship and was lead to Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan and to Swami Chidananda Yoga Dhyan Mandir. With His worthy hands Dr. M.J. Patani saheb was given honor of “Guru Bhakti Ratana”. Revered Shri Patani Saheb is blessed indeed to receive Mantra Diksha from Guru Maharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj on March 23, 1981 and had many occasions to be in HIS company. Inspired by GuruMaharaj, Patani Saheb has been selflessly serving the Divya Jivan Sangh for the past three decades. His contribution to the Divya Jivan Sangh in the form of administrative duties, publication work and overall management of the ashram is immeasurable over all these years and it is still continued even at the age of 89 years. He has been a life member of the Divine Life Society. He is also an associate editor of “Divya Jivan” Gujarati Monthly Journal of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh. In His address to devotees Sri Swamigal Maharaj expressed His overwhelming joy to visit Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. He continued that Swami Sivananda was born at one remote corner in South India. He meditated in remote corner of Garhwal, but HIS disciples are all over the world. Here, a beautiful spiritual center in the midst of busy big city of Gujarat serving people though the ashram activities and so many people are involved in selfless services. This was the spirit of holy Master Swami Sivananda; this was the aim of Adi Shankara. See God in all. Serve all. Love all. Unite India. He expressed His thanks to Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, who invited him here. He, especially blessed Dr. M.J. Patani saheb for his meritorious and self-less services to the welfare of mankind towards the mission of Gurudev Swami Sivananda. Next day during public meeting in presence of Shri Narendra Modi, Chief-Minister, Gujarat again Sri Swamigal remembered and acknowledged his visit to Sivananda Ashram. On May 17, 2010 the holy incarnation day of Sri Adi Shankaracharya a very special satsang was organized at ashram and Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji shared his thoughts about life and teachings of Adi Shankar. On May 27, 2010 H.H. Chandra Swamiji, a Tantra Yogi of international fame visited Sivananda Ashram. A special satsang and devotional music was organized in his honor. Vadodara-: Indian Institute of Material Management and Quality Circle Forum of India jointly organized a symposium in presence of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. Program was organized at the Sri Raman Patel auditorium of M. S. University, Vadodara. Ambaji-: On May 7, 2010 Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji with the group of devotees from the ashram visited Ambaji and had a darshan of enlightened soul, Shri Prahalad Soni ( aged 82 years), who has not eat or drink for the last sixty five years. His life is a miracle on the earth. People from all over the world come for His darshan and blessings. Sivananda Ashram’s devotees were blessed by His visit to the Ashram on May 4, 2010. Ramnagar Kampa.-: On May 7, 2010 and May 31, 2010 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj visited Ramnagar Kampa to the holy abode of Late Sri Swami GuruKrupanandaji Maharaj, There was satsang followed by Prasad served to all. Nadiad-: On May 26, 2010 Sri Swamiji with group of devotees paid homage and visited the holy Santram Mandir at Nadiad. Sri Nirgunanandaji welcomed them all. On 26th mid-day Sri Swamiji was invited to the program organized by Gujarat Government’s Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration for “Red tepisim and positive attitude in governance” at SPIPA, Ahmedabad. Dakor-: Honoring sincere invitation of Sri Kanubhai Doshi, Secretary Balaji friends club, Dakor, Sri Swamiji and group of devotees visited Dakor the holy land of Lord Krishna. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Shivaling Darshan at Lord Vishvanath Temple At last, after a long hot summer in Gujarat , rain has brought a sigh of relief. Yes, Monsoon has begun in full swing. For the past one month, we have rain almost every day. It seems that it has brought with it the smile and shine everywhere, the birds, the trees and even the grass is happy. Gurupurnima Celebration ( July 25, 2010 ) – A festival of surrender unto Thee in the form of GURU. At the Ashram, devotees celebrated Guru Purnima with great enthusiasm & devotion. It started with group recitation of Sri Jaya Ganesh Kirtan, Guru Stotras, Shanti path, Paduka Pujan of Sri Gurudev and meditation lead by Pujya Sri. Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Sri Gurudev’s Paduka Pujan, sharing of Holy Master’s teachings & devotional Bhajans brought their living presence in the hearts of all the devotees. In spite of heavy rain over 650 devotees participated for Guru Paduka Poojan In traditional Indian myth from mid July to mid November is ‘CHATURMAS’. Especially, Jain Saints do not travel during these months. They stay at one place attached to their community temples and do their sadhana. But, honoring the invitation H. H. Sri Hitruchi Vijayji Maharaj, jain saint with his fourteen disciples decided to observe CHATURMAS stay at holy Sivananda Ashram. On July 21, 2010 at early dawn ( Dev Shayani Eakadashi) they arrived. The Elephants with elaborate decoration, Camel cart, Bullock cart, Horse cart and traditional temple orchestra entered in the ashram. This colorful procession was culminated in public meeting. All Acharya of different ashram of Hindu tradition were invited to grace and bless the occasion. It was a memorable satsang. Mahaprasad was served to all after satsang. Sri Arun Oza trustee and Vice-President of the ashram welcomed all. Dr. Smt. Monika Shah sang melodious devotional song. Revered Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj said, “ having Saints at home is Diwali or Dashera. It is a a spiritual treat for all the devotees. Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Vishwambhar Bharatiji Maharaj also blessed the large gathering. Revered Acharya Sri Hitruchi Vijayaji Maharaj conducted four sessions everyday on the variety of spiritual subjects namely Acharang Sutra, Ten Vaikalik Sutra, Nav Tatwa Prakaran granth and Meditation upon inner values of realization of absolute. Classes on Sanskrit learning are also conducted everyday and people attend with great enthusiasm. Jain’s traditional worship temple is also established in the ashram and traditional worship services are being performed everyday. Devotees enjoyed satsang of Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmnandaji Maharaj and Revered Sri Hitruchiji Maharaj. Chariot Festival July 13, 2010 happened to be holy Chariot festival. Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj and group of devotees went to for the darshan of Lord Jagannath. Sri Swamiji Maharaj was invited to give running commentary of Rath Yatra and glories and history of Lord Sri Jagannath, it was covered by TV media on channel Nine. In the evening, at ashram also there was great enthusiasm. A beautiful Chariot was decorated by Mrs. Rupa Majmudar and Pandit Vikram’s team, with temple orchestra, singing and dancing procession of the Lord moved around ashram. About 750 devotees joined for singing of the glory of the Lord and dancing in ecstasy. Prasad of Malpua and Dudhpak was served to all. Daily Yogasana teachings to beginners and advanced yoga students, medical consultations, Yoga counseling, grocery distribution to the needy and poor senior citizens, healthy food distribution to under privileged children’s of city were carried this months also. Day long chanting of Mrityunjaya Mantra on Sunday, Paduka Pujan on Thursday and a daily satsang at night were the regular activities of the ashram during the month. In the month of July, 600 kg.of grains and wheat was distributed in forty needy families. As always third of the month nutritious food packages were distributed to underprivileged children of slum area. Nutritious food was provided to children under Narayana Seva On July 8, 2010 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited by Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration for yoga & management workshop for senior administrators of Government of Gujarat. Tree plantation was done in campus by Sri Swamiji and He praised the wonderful work done by the institute. Sri Swami Adyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited by Res. Dr. Bhagat’s Polio foundation and medi care center. This group of medicos is serving the society, especially to needy, poor and down trodden since last 23 years in the heart of city, known as Shamal Sani pole.They started their service by one polio operation a day. Then slowly and gradually they have conducted more than 12000 operations for the polio victims. Fortunately because as Polio vaccine it has been reduced. Now, this group of doctors have commenced the service to Cerebral Palsy, Diabetic foot treatment, Prosthetic and Orthotic Centre. Prevention of eye forum the heaviness of Sugar in the system and Pediatrics Orthopedic center. By seeing the wonderful selfless service a generous donor Sri Indu Kaka of famous IFFCO company donated Rupees Twenty Million and hence new building has been build for the service of the man kind. Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj graced, blessed and addressed the august gathering at this wonderful temple of service to the Mankind. Satsangs & visits of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji during Month of July 2010 Madhaper- Bhuj To celebrate the birth centenary of Revered Sri Rambhai Baxi, his devoted son Dr. Sri Arun Baxi invited Sri Swamiji for the grand Gayatri Yajna and public satsang which was organized at Bhuj (Kutch) by Akhil Bharatiya Nagar Parishad on July 17, 2010 . The gorgeous building of this parishad was inaugurated by Sri Swamiji Maharaj in the year 1995. Sri Swamiji addressed a mammoth gathering upon need of spirituality in daily sadhana. By night train Sri Swamiji Maharaj returned back to Ahmedabad. Bharasar On July27,2010 in worthy memory of Late Mr. Surya Varsani, his generous parents organized unmemorable satsang and confluence of Saints and Sages of different sects. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Janmashtami Celebration ( Sept 2, 2010 ) The Month of September commenced with sacred Janmashtami – Lord Sri Krishna’s Pragtya. Here at Sivananda Ashram, devotees decorated Lord Shiva ‘s Ice Sculpture of Lord Amarnath Darshan made out of 100-quintal ice. It was just the replica of a cave in Kashmir. Thousands of devotees came for the darshan and got enchanted with the beautiful shringar of the Lord. Shri Devesh Dave’s family from Bharuch, Smt. Mayurika Oza, and Smt. Prama Mankodi sang Bhajans. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj read the original Holy Scripture Sri Bhagavata, the very explanation by Sage Vyas all about Sri Krishna’s appearance in the form of Lord Narayan and then turning in a form of small beautiful baby! Sri Swamiji’s soul elevating Harinam Sankirtan filled the air with divine vibrations to receive Baby Krishna. At late night all devotees in the company of Sri Swamiji visited and paid their homage at Sri Hare Krishna temple. Spiritual Retreat (Sept 6, 2010 & Sept 7, 2010) On the occasion of Holy Mahasamadhi day (as per Indian calendar) of most worshipful and Revered Guru Bhagavan Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj, intense spiritual activities were planned in the morning from 9.00am -12.00pm and in the afternoon from 1.30pm -5.00pm, which included group prayers, Gita chanting, recitation of Sri Vishnusahasranam, chanting of Sri Shiv Mahimna Stotra, Japa and silent meditation. Satsang discourses of Shri Shivpuran Katha by Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj were attended by large numbers of devotees. Gurudev 124th Birthday Celebration ( Sept 8, 2010 ) Satsang on the occasion of Most Worshipful and Revered Guru Bhagawan H. H. Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s birthday was filled with spiritual activities, including concluding of ( daily discourses of ) Sri Shivpuran Katha by Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj , Rudra Yajna at Sri Vishwanath Temple followed by Bhandara – Mahaprasad to about seventeen hundred devotees. Rain God was merciful not to disturb the program. Gurumaharaj’s Birthday celebration (Sept 24, 2010) Holy Birthday of Revered Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj was celebrated in very solemn atmosphere, with Japa, Meditation, Poor Feeding and special Satsang. Revered Sri Patani Saheb, Sri Virendradas, Smt. Rupaben Majmudar and Sri Swamiji Maharaj shared their inspiring memories of Gurumaharaj. Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad is hosting fourteen Jain Mahatmas since last two and half months. They celebrated their annual fasting festival “Paryushan” and “Samvatsary” with great serenity and self-control. Hundreds of Jain devotees visited ashram. Sri Yogi Ramdev Baba was one of them. On Sept 25, 2010 meeting of the trustees and annual general body meeting were held at the ashram in cordial atmosphere. Satsang and Tours of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of September 2010 Ahmedabad: On Sunday Sept 5, 2010 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was invited to grace the annual awards presentation meeting of “Sadhana” periodical, committed and dedicated to the service of the nation. Sri Swamiji also addressed a large gathering of Platinum Jubilee function of “Sri Gandharva Sangeet Mahavidyalaya.” On Sept 12, 2010 Sri Swamiji led a grand peace march organized by “Kaipa Social Service Society” together with Bishop Joseph Meckwan. On September 23, 2010 Sri Swamiji Maharaj graced the Platinum Jubilee function of “Sri Sarkhej Education Society”. Teachers were honoredand presented with awards for their outstanding services. Tree plantation was done also. sCochin – On Sept 9, 2010 at early dawn Revered Sri Swamiji arrived at Cochin Air-Port. A cordial welcome was accorded to Hm, which was followed by satsang organized by Smt. Shailaja Ramanujam. Kayamkulam: From Cochin to Thiruvananthapuram Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was accompanied by Sri Bajrang Sharanji, Sri Janmejay Sharanji and other Mahatmas from Ayodhya. They all had a wonderful Satsang at Kayamkulum. Thiruvananthapuram: Because of heavy rains, traffic and very bad road, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj arrived at Thiruvananthapuram late at 10 pm, three hours later than the scheduled program. But none the less people at Indian Air Force, Aakkulam received Sri Swamiji in great enthusiasm and He addressed a grand gathering of Indian Air Force Company headed by Air Marshal Shri Sunil Chopra (V.S.M.J., A.V.S.M., P.V.S.M), which followed by interactive session of Q& A and a Silent Meditation. Everyone had their dinner late at midnight. Sri Swamiji arrived back to his base camp at Karthikayam by 2.00am . Spiritual Conference (Sept 10,2010 – Sept 12, 2010 ) Three days spiritual conference was organized by the devotees of great Saint Sri Karunakar Guru. A grand mammoth marble structure in shape of wide Lotus is being constructed where 325 Kilo Gram Pure Gold statue of holy Guru will be installed. H. E. President, Prime Minister of India, Respected Sonia Gandhi, Ex-President Shri Abdul Kalam and other dignitaries and political leaders of state and national level attended the function. Hundred of Saints were invited to grace the occasion. It was a wonderful experience to see the devotion of the devotees towards their GURU. On Sept 11, 2010 afternoon Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji and other Mahatmas visited Sri Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari and had a meeting with Shri Balkrishna, President of the Kendra. Sri Swamiji was invited by H. E. Maharaja of Travancore, Sri five Martand Vermaji at his palace. Chennai : On Sept 14, 2010 Mr P. F. Palyam, a devotee of Swami Sivananda organized Satsang at Eliot Beach. Rajkot : On Sept 17, 2010 Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji and Sri Arunbhai Oza arrived here at Sri Arsha Vidya Ashram of Pujya Sri Swami Paramatmanandaji. One day visit here was full of programs for Swamiji. In the forenoon at ‘Vyavasayik Vidya Pratisthan’ Swamiji addressed to a large assembly of Engineering students. In the afternoon satsang was at Sri Sivananda Bhavan from 3.00pm to 4.00pm and in the evening, Satsang was at “Sivananda Krushna Kunj” followed by dinner. After that Sri Swamiji left for Dwarka Dham with a group of devotees, including Sri Harivadan Antani, trustee of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh and reached Dwarka at midnight. Just a thought to relive Gurudev’s presence and cherishing the sweet memories of Holy Master’s visit at the ashram bring immense joy and peace, what to think of living with Gurudev! Blessed are those who stayed with and had live satsang with Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. To mark this occasion spiritual retreat was organized at Sivananda Ashram , Ahmedabad . In the forenoon, afternoon and in the evening, Prayers, Japa, Meditation, Gita Path, group recitation of Sri Durga Sapta Sati and Sri Vishnu Sahasranam performed. Revered Saints and Sages graced public meetings every evening during three days. President of All India Sadhu Samaj, H. H. Mahamandaleshwar Swami Mangalanandaji Maharaj graced the occasion all the three days. He said that he was fortunate to serve Revered Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj 60 years ago and was the host of Sri Gurudev at famous Gita Mandir of Late Sri Swami Vidyanandaji Maharaj. Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Bharati Tirthji from Junagadh, H. H. Sri Swami Paramatmanandaji Maharaj, President, Arsh Vidyamandir( Rajkot), H. H. Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj on Nov 1st & Nov 2nd in year 1950. Most respected Sri Balkrishna Pandyaji (Rev. Balukaka) of the Divine Life Society, Baroda Branch, was honored “Guru Bhakti Ratna”. He was the pioneer organizer of Sri Gurudev’s visit to Gujarat in 1950. Feeding to Poor was done to mark this occasion and special issue of Gujarati monthly journal of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh was released by Revered Sri Swami Mangalanandaji Maharaj. It is a special issue covering the details of Gurudev’s visit and highlighting His message, teachings etc. Deepavali Celebration ( Nov 3, 2010 -Nov7, 2010 ) Sri Sri Laxmi Puja was done by one hundred and ten couples in holy Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan on Nov 3, 2010 at night, as it being a special day for worshiping the Goddess of wealth. On Nov 5,2010 a Grand Annakoot, offering of food to Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Maa at Asthlaxmi Bhavan on the occasion of Diwali. On Nov 7, 2010 more than 10,000 devotees visited the temple and received the blessings from the God as well from Pujya Sri swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. The food Prasad packages were distributed among 1200 poor families on morning of Nov 6th each containing ½ kg. of sweets and 1 kg spicy snack. Bhagawat Katha (Nov 8, 2010 – Nov 14, 2010) Sri Bhagavat Katha was organized by Kothari family from Nov 8th to Nov 14th. Puny Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, Presided on Vyas peeth. All seven days were agog with divine vibrations from singing of sweet name of Hari. Katha was inaugurated by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Sri Swami Vishwadevanandaji Maharaj of Nirvani Akhada. At holy concluding Sri Natvarlal Upadhyay(100 years old) presided over and graced the occasion. Ashram has continued its regular activities namely Yoga sessions for beginners and advanced students, Reiki, Feeding to Poor, Yoga for Medicare, Satsang, Vedant class etc throughout the month. Service to needy, poor and down trodden as well regular prayers and meditation are the essence of ashram’s regular activity. Other News: On Nov 12th Sri Swamiji was invited to address a grand assembly of youth get-to-gather from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. This personality development program for youths was organized by Rotary Club, Ahmedabad, under their ‘RYLA’ program. Revered Sri Hitruchi Vijayaji Maharaj, Jain Monk who was staying at ashram for his four and a half monbths retreat with his fourteen disciples left for his next abode on Nov 21st morning. He expressed great satisfaction of his peaceful, meaningful and purposeful stay at the ashram. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji’s Tour and Satsang Programs during Month of November 2010 Haridwar Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji arrived here on Nov 15, 2010 at early dawn to attend 61st Self discipline week organized by Sri Sri Maa Anandamayee Sangh. Pujya Swamiji had program at Vedanta Sammelan of Parmananda Bhandar and also at BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited), Ranipur, Haridwar during his stay at Haridwar. Rishikesh On Nov 18, 2010 Sri Swamiji joined the concluding session of discipline week and spiritual retreat of Sri Swami Narayan Gurukul Vishwa Vidya Pratisthan on the bank of holy Ganga at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh. Lucknow On Nov 20, 2010 honoring generous invitation of Lucknow Management Association, Rotary Club and All India Bhojpuri Samaj Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji arrived here from Haridwar. He addressed the august gathering at hotel Taj Regency in the company of H. E. President of Mauritius Mr. Anirudha Jagnath, Mrs. Sarojini Jagnath, Mr. Prakash Jayaswal, and Minister for Coal, Government of India, Mr. Ramnaresh Yadav, Ex-chief Minister of Utter Pradesh, and other prominent dignitaries were on the podium. During his stay at Lucknow Sri Swamiji conducted three work-shops on stress management at Lucknow Management Association, which was jointly organized by Lucknow Rotary mid-town. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Yoga teaching through SIVA – Sivananda International Vedanta and Yoga Academy at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad offers daily yoga lessons for Beginners, Intermediate & Established yoga practitioners. The daily Yoga sessions start at early hours of dawn (5.30am) and continue through the day in different groups. In addition to regular Yoga teaching, during the month of December even more Yoga teaching was organized. Yoga teaching is one of the vital activities at the ashram. Ashram offers more extended programs in all areas of Spirituality, Health Wellness, and Personal Growth, with an emphasis on Yoga and Meditation, under the guidance of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj 21st Yoga Teachers Training Course (YTTC) – Three weeks (20 days) residential Yoga Teacher Training Course was organized under personal presence, guidance and supervision of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. It is designed to integrate all aspects of life; physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual – and help Sadhak finds inner peace and joy. Thirty two candidates enrolled and successfully completed the course. They were from USA, UK, Germany, Australia, South Africa. South Korea, Taiwan, Egypt and India. The team of Yoga teachers including Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Dr. Mayur Patel (Diabetologist), Dr. Varsha Dave (Gynaecologist), Dr.Swetang Pancholi (Cardiologist), Dr. Amish Kshatriya (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Smt. Chidrupini Kshatriya (Dietician), Mrs. Roopa Majmudar (Philosopher & Reiki Grandmaster), Ms. Sangeeta Thawani (Educationist & Yoga Teacher) and Prof. Sri Suresh Patel (Management & Behavioral Science). At the end of three week learning tests both written and Practical were conducted and certificates were awarded by Mayor of Ahmedabad City, Sri Asit Vora. Yogi James Lo, President of Taiwan Yoga & Sports federation was awarded “YOGA RATNA” (Gem of yoga) award. 743 rd Yoga camp (Dec 13, 2010 – Dec 22, 2010): Ten days yoga, Meditation and Pranayam camp was also conducted by Revered Sri Swamiji. Four hundred and ninety students availed the education facilities at the Ashram. During the camp Dr. Mayur Patel gave illustrated discourse with slide show to educate and bring the awareness of early detection, management and treatment of Diabetes. All Yoga participants got their blood sugar tested also. Gita Jayanti: Dec 17, 2010 was the holy Sri Gita Jayanti. It was on this day that Sanjaya narrated to King Dhritarashtra the dialogue between Sri Krishna and Arjuna, and thus made the glorious teachings of the Lord available to us, and to people of the world, for all time. The message of the Bhagavad-Gita was given by the Lord Himself on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The Gita shows a way to rise above the world of duality and the pairs of opposites, and to acquire eternal bliss and immortality. It is a gospel of action. It teaches performance of one’s duty in society and a life of active struggle, keeping the inner being untouched by outer surroundings, and renouncing the fruits of actions as offerings unto the Lord. The Gita is a source of power and wisdom. Gita Jayanti was celebrated in the Ashram with Gita Parayan (group recitation) led by Rev. Swamiji. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited at Samvit institute for Gita discourse where Sri Swami Viditatmanandaji Maharaj, Tatwa Tirth, Bopal, Sri Swami Som Samvitji Maharaj, Bikaner, and Rev. Dr. Gautam Patel brought the spot light upon the different aspects of the Gita. Sri Dttatreya Jayanti ( Dec 20, 2010 ) On holy of Dattatreya Jayanti, a grand Laksharchana, Pooja, Sri Dattabavani chanting and Sri Datta Yajana was performed at Sri Dattatreya Temple of the ashram. Lord Dattatreya – He was a supreme yogi. Like Dakshinamurti, He was the Adi-Guru, the primal world teacher. The name or word ‘Dattatreya’ is constituted of two terms, ‘Datta’ and ‘Atreya’. In Sanskrit, ‘Datta’ means one who is bestowed as a gift, and ‘Atreya’ is derived from the name of a great sage called Atri. The son of Atri is Atreya. A descendent of Atri also is Atreya. One, who is bestowed as a divine child on the great sage Atri, by the Gods Brahma, Vishnu and Siva themselves, is Dattatreya. Tradition holds that he was the divine child of sage Atri born to his famous consort Anasuya, the great queen of chastity, Anasuya Devi. Christmas celebration – Holy Christmas celebration was very solemn and peaceful on X’mas eve. All YTTC students organized this function by decorating the alter and singing the carol etc, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji read out the Sermon on the mount. Through Sivananda Clinic at the ashram, patients with multiple medical problems are being treated on one to one bases. They are provided with expert instructions on yoga postures, breathing practices, relaxation techniques & meditation as a holistic way of healing. Thanks to Dr. Amin for his dedication & selfless services. Healing through Reiki teaching and training sessions by Reiki Grand Master Mrs. Rupa Majmudar and Mr. Tapan Mankodi is also a part of regular activity. Feeding to poor on 3rd of each month and grain distribution to needy on first Sunday of the month through Sri Vishvanath Sevakendra, Sri Gayatri Yajna and Sri Lalita sahasranama by Tamil Mahila Samaj on first Sunday of the month, weekly satsang on Wednesday Vedanta Vimarsh, Sri Gurupaduka poojan on Thursday, Sri Durga Saptasati parayan on Friday, Sri Sundarkand Path on Saturday, Sunday – Satsang and Mrutyunjaya japa, Wednesday & Friday – went on as usual during the month of December at the Ashram. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Divya Darshan Jnana Yajana (January 1, 2011 – January 30, 2011) An eagle’s egg was placed in the nest of prairie chicken, the egg hatched and the little eagle grew thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the prairie chicken did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It checked and checked. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw an eagle lying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the chickens, “What is that a beautiful bird?” the chicken replied “That is an Eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you can’t fly like him because you are just a prairie chicken”. So, the eagle never gave it a second thought, believing that to be true. He lived the life a prairie chicken and and died as a prairie chicken, depriving himself of his heritage because of his lack of vision. What a waste! He was born to win but conditioned to lose. The same thing is true for most of us. We don’t achieve excellence and perfection because of our own lack of vision. We are born as human beings, not to weep and wail. We are born to roar, “I’m bliss, bliss, bliss Absolute”. I’m not this body, nor this restless mind, I’m the essence of eternity and I’m the radiant immortal unfading beauty of the soul. This is the zest of Vedanta, Brahman is truth, knowledge, infinite and bliss. You are that (Brahman), says Vedas. This wonderful teaching was simply poured like nectar flowing by most worshipful and Revered H. H. Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji Maharaj of Sri Pranav Bharati Foundation Bangalore during entire month of January. In the morning class from 7.00am to 8.00am, he has dealt with “Brahma Sutra Pravesh” and in the evenings he shared the basics of Vedanta. His way of sharing his teachings with his very sincere and prompt effort and to see that pupils are not just sitting ideal, but are seriously grasping the subject wonderfully. He is a born teacher. He dealt the difficult subject of Vedanta like a kind and gentle mother, who love to kindly lit the light of wisdom to the heart of her infants. On Jan 30, 2011 Evening Holy Vedanta Jnana Yajna was concluded in solemn atmosphere. Sri Arun oza vice president and trustee of Sivananda Ashram thanked to Revered Swamiji Maharaj, his organization, and all devotees those who volunteered themselves to attend discourses on Vedanta learning daily during the entire month . Award Ceremony ( Jan 20, 2011) On Jan 20, 2011 evening was special at the ashram. Hundreds of school students from Ahmedabad West arrived for a special event. It was award receiving ceremony.The joy, enthusiasm & vigor were bubbling up on their faces. A diamond jubilee celebration was organized at the Ashram in October & November 2010 in which all together 7500 students from 28 schools of Ahmedabad, West participated in various sports & cultural activities. It was in memory of Revered Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s Gujarat Divya Yatra in November 1950. Prize and certificates were distributed and award were presented in the worthy presence of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji and Sri Ramdas Gandhi, a leading advocate of Mumbai. Sri Lalitha Sahshranama Chanting (Jan 23, 2011) On Jan 23, 2011 morning about 350 ladies from Tamil Mahila Samaj, chanted Sri Sri Sri Lalitha Sahasranama in the holy presence of H. H. Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swami Narayana Swaroopanandaji and others. It filled the the air with divine vibrations and supreme blessedness. 7th Patotsav of Hanuman Mandir at the Ashram ( Jan 26, 2011) On Jan 26, 2011 Flag hoisting was done by Revered Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji Maharaj. 7th Pathotsav of Sri Dukhbhanjan Hanuman, Sri Ram durbar, Sri Dattatreya and Sri Jagannath Maha Prabhu is celebrated with full enthusiasm. Maruti Yajna was performed from morning to noon. Concluding was performed by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. A great number of Devotees participated in Maruti Yajana. Prasad was offered to devotees after Yajna. Evening was graced by Sunderkand recitation by Sri Ajay Yajnikji Maharaj of Delhi. The holy name of Sri Guru Bhagwan Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj is so great that number of Mahatmas visited and graced Sivananda Ashram Ahmedabad in the month of January namely Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Sri Swami Satyamitranandaji Maharaj from Haridwar, Sri Paramananda Bharatiji, Sri Swami Mangalmoorthiji from Varanasi, Sri Swami Durgeshanandaji from Kolkata, Sri Swami Vedantanandaji from Chidambaram, Sri Swami Vishnudevanandaji from Vidyanath (Himachal Pradesh), Mahanta Sri Swami Shamprakashji Maharaj, Haridwar and Sri Swami Paramananda Saraswatiji from Baroda. Mr. Samuel Klemke from Wimer (Germany) came to attend famous music festival organized by “Saptak” at Ahmedabad. Mr. Samuel met Sri Swamiji at the library of the University of Science and Technology at Wimer, Germany. He is an accomplished guitar player. He joined in Gayatri Yajna and meditation during his stay at the Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Daily activities of the Ashram being graced by number of visitors and devotee from far and wide places from India and abroad also. Sivananda Ashram has become the holy pilgrimage place (Yatra Dham) to share peace, love and sanctity for the Lord and life of service to humanity.
