Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Divya Darshan Jnana Yajana (January 1, 2011 – January 30, 2011) An eagle’s egg was placed in the nest of prairie chicken, the egg hatched and the little eagle grew thinking it was a prairie chicken. The eagle did what the prairie chicken did. It scratched in the dirt for seeds. It checked and checked. It never flew more than a few feet because that is what the prairie chickens did. One day he saw an eagle lying gracefully and majestically in the open sky. He asked the chickens, “What is that a beautiful bird?” the chicken replied “That is an Eagle. He is an outstanding bird, but you can’t fly like him because you are just a prairie chicken”. So, the eagle never gave it a second thought, believing that to be true. He lived the life a prairie chicken and and died as a prairie chicken, depriving himself of his heritage because of his lack of vision. What a waste! He was born to win but conditioned to lose. The same thing is true for most of us. We don’t achieve excellence and perfection because of our own lack of vision. We are born as human beings, not to weep and wail. We are born to roar, “I’m bliss, bliss, bliss Absolute”. I’m not this body, nor this restless mind, I’m the essence of eternity and I’m the radiant immortal unfading beauty of the soul. This is the zest of Vedanta, Brahman is truth, knowledge, infinite and bliss. You are that (Brahman), says Vedas. This wonderful teaching was simply poured like nectar flowing by most worshipful and Revered H. H. Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji Maharaj of Sri Pranav Bharati Foundation Bangalore during entire month of January. In the morning class from 7.00am to 8.00am, he has dealt with “Brahma Sutra Pravesh” and in the evenings he shared the basics of Vedanta. His way of sharing his teachings with his very sincere and prompt effort and to see that pupils are not just sitting ideal, but are seriously grasping the subject wonderfully. He is a born teacher. He dealt the difficult subject of Vedanta like a kind and gentle mother, who love to kindly lit the light of wisdom to the heart of her infants. On Jan 30, 2011 Evening Holy Vedanta Jnana Yajna was concluded in solemn atmosphere. Sri Arun oza vice president and trustee of Sivananda Ashram thanked to Revered Swamiji Maharaj, his organization, and all devotees those who volunteered themselves to attend discourses on Vedanta learning daily during the entire month . Award Ceremony ( Jan 20, 2011) On Jan 20, 2011 evening was special at the ashram. Hundreds of school students from Ahmedabad West arrived for a special event. It was award receiving ceremony.The joy, enthusiasm & vigor were bubbling up on their faces. A diamond jubilee celebration was organized at the Ashram in October & November 2010 in which all together 7500 students from 28 schools of Ahmedabad, West participated in various sports & cultural activities. It was in memory of Revered Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s Gujarat Divya Yatra in November 1950. Prize and certificates were distributed and award were presented in the worthy presence of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji and Sri Ramdas Gandhi, a leading advocate of Mumbai. Sri Arun Oza and Sri Maulik Shah conducted the entire program. Sri Lalitha Sahshranama Chanting (Jan 23, 2011) On Jan 23, 2011 morning about 350 ladies from Tamil Mahila Samaj, chanted Sri Sri Sri Lalitha Sahasranama in the holy presence of H. H. Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swami Narayana Swaroopanandaji and others. It filled the the air with divine vibrations and supreme blessedness. 7th Patotsav of Hanuman Mandir at the Ashram ( Jan 26, 2011) On Jan 26, 2011 Flag hoisting was done by Revered Sri Swami Paramananda Bharatiji Maharaj. 7th Pathotsav of Sri Dukhbhanjan Hanuman, Sri Ram durbar, Sri Dattatreya and Sri Jagannath Maha Prabhu is celebrated with full enthusiasm. Maruti Yajna was performed from morning to noon. Concluding was performed by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. A great number of Devotees participated in Maruti Yajana. Prasad was offered to devotees after Yajna. Evening was graced by Sunderkand recitation by Sri Ajay Yajnikji Maharaj of Delhi. The holy name of Sri Guru Bhagwan Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj is so great that number of Mahatmas visited and graced Sivananda Ashram Ahmedabad in the month of January namely Mahamandaleshwar 1008 Sri Swami Satyamitranandaji Maharaj from Haridwar, Sri Paramananda Bharatiji, Sri Swami Mangalmoorthiji from Varanasi, Sri Swami Durgeshanandaji from Kolkata, Sri Swami Vedantanandaji from Chidambaram, Sri Swami Vishnudevanandaji from Vidyanath (Himachal Pradesh), Mahanta Sri Swami Shamprakashji Maharaj, Haridwar and Sri Swami Paramananda Saraswatiji from Baroda. Mr. Samuel Klemke from Wimer (Germany) came to attend famous music festival organized by “Saptak” at Ahmedabad. Mr. Samuel met Sri Swamiji at the library of the University of Science and Technology at Wimer, Germany. He is an accomplished guitar player. He joined in Gayatri Yajna and meditation during his stay at the Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Daily activities of the Ashram being graced by number of visitors and devotee from far and wide places from India and abroad also. Sivananda Ashram has become the holy pilgrimage place (Yatra Dham) to share peace, love and sanctity for the Lord and life of service to humanity. Sincere seekers of truth are always welcome to this holy abode of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Om Shanti Month was concluded with sweet singing of Lord’s glory in Sunderkand by Sri Ashwin Pathakji, a great Bhakta. Large numbers of devotees attended the satsang on January 31st. More & more people, inspired by Spiritual head of the ashram, Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj are involving themselves in the Ashram’s selfless services to humanity and evolving in their quest for achieving higher goal of life. Daily worship services at Lord Vishvanath Temple and at Sri Sri Maa Ashtalakshmi Bhavan create Divine Vibrations at the Ashram. Prayers & Meditation at Sri Chidananda Dhyan Mandir bring peace & joy to countless Sadhakas. Daily Evening Satsang (9.00pm –9.45pm), Sunday satsang (8.30 am -10.00 am) and ‘Paduka Pujan’ on Thursday, Satyanarayan Puja on Purnima day, Gayatri Yajana on first Sunday, Lalita Shashra Nama & Yoga activities: all these have made Sivananda Ashram a pilgrimage place (Yatra Dham) in the midst of busy & noisy city life. Morning Yoga for the beginners (5.30am – 7.00 am) by Dr. Snehal amin , Mrs. Manju Narang & Miss. Sonal Trivedi is favorite of everyone. Yoga classes for Established and Advanced students in different batches at 5.30 am, 7.00 am and 10.00 am in the morning get well attended. In the evening Yoga classes are run for Women group and a special group from 4:00pm, 6:00pm and 7:00 pm. Credit goes to a team of dedicated yoga teachers of the Ashram. As always, wheat & grain distributions to needy families on first Sunday of the month and feeding poor on 3rd of each month through “Vishwanath Seva Kendra” get accomplished with the support of unseen force. Many people with medical and physical illness get treated regularly through Sivananda Dispensary at the ashram. Thanks to Gurudev for working behind the scene for running smoothly all the activities at the Ashram. Satsang Programs & Tours of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji during the Month of February 2011 Navasari: On Feb 3, 2011 Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swami Narayan Swaroopanandaji with other devotees visited Navsari. Late Sri Bhikhubhai Desai was a great devotee of Revered Guru Bhagwan Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. His Respected Dharampatni (wife) Smt. Nirmalaben Desai was not keeping in good health since long. Sri Swamiji with all his kindness paid a visit to her. It was also a Joyous occasion of their grand daughter Krishna’s wedding occasion. The Bride & Groom received were happy to receive Blessings from Pujya Swamiji. Pujya Sri Swamiji’s darshan and satsang brought joy, peace and solace to her and the members of the family. Swamiji had His Bhiksha at their home. There was a small home satsang. In the satsang, a special prayer was offered for their family Dog (named Chandrasekhar / Chandu), who was ailing for some time and after receiving Pujya Swamiji’s prayers & blessings Chandu’s soul departed, that evening. May Chandu’s departed soul ascends to higher plane of evolution is the prayer unto the Supreme ! Valsad: In the afternoon the group went to Valsad. Most Worshipful and Revered Sri Swami Venkateshanandaji Maharaj’s late devotee Sri Pranjivan Tailor’s family came to Valsad from London. But, unfortunately none of them kept bright in health during their two months stay in India this time. So, Sri Swamiji went to see them in their Rishikesh building before they all left for UK. In the evening there was a satsang at Sri Yagnesh Desai’s farm house. Members of the Divine Life society, Valsad enjoyed the Satsang and Prasad, which was organized generously by Sri Yagneshbhai Desai and family in the honor of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. Vadodara: On Feb 4, 2011 Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swami Narayan Swaroopanandaji and a group of devotees visited Smt. Kokilaben Purohit, who had undergone Hip Joint replacement surgery. Smt. Kokilaben is most ardent devotee of Guru Bhagwan Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. She is a grahstha but Yogi in the true sense. Their home named “Sivananda Bhavan” is indeed a holy pilgrimage place filled with devotion, dedication and commitment towards Sri Gurudev and His mission of Service to Mankind. There was home Satsang, in which number of devotees from the Divine Life Society, Vadodara and Gopari participated. Also, Smt. Minal Naik and her daughter Ami feel blessed to get opportunity to be in satsang with SIVA’s devotees and receive Pujya Sri Swamiji Maharaj’s Blessings at “Sivananda Bhavan” Sri Swamiji blessed the bride (granddaughter of Smt. Kokilaben and Sri Upendrabhai Purohit) and the bride groom who was to be married the next day. After lunch entire group left for Santaram Mandir, Nadiad. Nadiad: Holy Sri Santaram Mandir is the heart and breathes of Nadiad City. For the last twelve years, devotees here have continued with the Akhand Japa (nonstop) of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama. The concluding of this Japa and commencement of Maha Mantra, Sri Rama Katha by Revered Sri Morari Bapu was organized by this Mandir. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj lit the lamp and announced the Spiritual festivity on Feb 4th evening. Thousands of devotees were gathered there from all over Gujarat. Sri Swamiji led the Kirtan that all the devotees enjoyed. It was a blessed occasion to be there to experience the thrill of it. “Santaram Mandir is known for its continued Service of ‘Kitchen and Kirtan’. Sri Swamiji praised the Mandir and the organizing committee members. Delhi (Feb 5, 2011): On Feb 5, 2011 honoring humble invitation of Smt. Vandana and Sri. Sanjay Mehta Sri Swamiji visited this blessed couple. There was lively home Satsang with question& answers session which continued for more than three hours. Satsang was concluded with melodious singing and Vedic Chants by devotees. Karnal (Feb 6, 2011): Sixth Annual function of Sri. Khatu Shyam devotees were organized at Karnal in Holy presence of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. On Feb 6, 2011, the function was commenced at 3.00pm in the afternoon and was concluded at 12.00am More than ten thousand devotees attended this grand event. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Sri Padukapujan At Sivananda Ashram Rishikesh On March 1, 2011 Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Graced thousands of devotees of Koteshwar Mahadev in his Ashirvachan in Prana Pratishta Mahotsav held from Feb 28, 2011 to March 3, 2011 at Koteshwar Mahadev Temple. Shivaratri Utsav ( March 2, 2011) Chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” charged the air of Sivananda Ashram with Divine vibrations as they celebrated Sacred Maha Shivratri on March 2nd, 2011. Holy Shri Vishwanath Temple was agog with worship of Lord Shiva. It started with Shodashopachar Pooja at 4.00 am on March 2nd and continued until the next day 4.00 am on March 3rd. Continuous flow of devotees came to the Lord Vishvanath Temple to pray and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva – who is considered Ashutosh, who gets pleased very easily. The Siva Lingam was worshipped by washing it with milk, curd, honey and rose water as the chants of Vedic Hymns, Namakam, Chamakam, Rudram and “Om Namah Shivaya” in praise of Shiva continued. Shiva Lingam was adorned with special Shringar and Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj performed Bhasma Arati. Shiva temple was full of Bel (Bilva) leaves, which were offered to the Lingam. Bel leaves are believed to be very sacred and the best offering to Lord. Also there is a strong belief that sincere worship of Lord Shiva on the auspicious day of Shivaratri, absolves person of sins and liberates him from the cycle of birth and death. Bhakti Sangeet (Devotional Songs) in praise of the Lord from 5.00 pm to 5.00 am throughout the night by outstanding singers Sri Shyam Sankirtan group, Smt. Dr. Monica Shah of Aradhana School of Indian Classical Music, Pandit Sri Niraj Parikh, Sri Vikas Chandra Parikh, Sri Maatang Parikh, Miss. Himali Vyas and Sri Devesh Dvivedi brought a special fervor to already charged atmosphere. On 3rd mid-day a grand Bhandara (Mahaprasad) was served to hundreds of devotees at the ashram. On March 24, 2011 Revered Sri Patani Saheb’s 90th Birthday was celebrated with a special satsang and Paduka pujan. It was a joyous occasion for all at the Ashram. He is an inspiration to all at the ashram. Patani Saheb is a perfect example of Karma Yogi. Revered Sri Patani Saheb has earned love, respect and admirations of one and all at the Ashram. He is honored as a Grandsire of the ashram. Having served various colleges in the capacity of a professor and retired as a principal of C. U. Shah Science College, Ahmedabad in 1982, Rev Sri Dr. Patani Saheb has been selflessly serving the Divya Jivan Sangh for the past three decades. His contribution to the Divya Jivan Sangh in the form of administrative duties, publication work and over all management of the ashram is immeasurable over all these years and it is still continued even at the age of 90 years. He has been a life member of the Divine Life Society and was given Mantra Diksha by Guru Maharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. He is also an associate editor of ‘Divya Jivan’ Gujarati Monthly Journal of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh. May God Gurudev bless him for his excellent health, long and blissful life for the rest of the life. Ashram notes the very sad demise of Mahanta of Sri Jagannath Temple, Saint Sri Ramaeshwardasji Maharaj. He passed away on 25th March forenoon; His last rights were attended by a group of devotees from ashram as well Sri Narendra Modi Chief Minister of Gujarat. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji’s Tour and satsnag program during the Month of March 2011 Haridwar ( March 8, 2011 -March 12, 2011) : Honoring invitation of Respected Dr. Hemendranath & Mrs. Uma Hemendranath, Revered Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Visited Haridwar. During his stay in Haridwar Swamiji was invited to devotees home for home satsang and blessings. On March 8, 2011 evening Sri Swamiji attended and performed Ganga Aarti, at famous Harki Paudi. Sri & Smt. Minakshi invited Sri Swamiji to grace and bless to their school Wizkids. Mr & Mrs. Minakshi are the blessed devotees who have received blessings from most worshipful and Revered Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj & Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. Visit to Sivananada Ashram, Rishikesh: On March 10, 2011 Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji paid his respect and homage by attending and performing holy worship of Padukas, puja at Sri Samadhi shrine of H. H. Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj & Sri Vishwanath Temple. After taking Prasad Swamiji blessed and graced the yoga institute of yogi Ravi at Lakshman Jula. After meditation at Holy Sivananda Kutir and bath in Ganga Swamiji returned back to Haridwar. Mumbai – Honoring invitation of the managing trustee of Sri Prempuri Adhyatma Vidya Bhavan, Sri Madanlal Dalmiyaji, Revered Sri Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, came to Mumbai for fortnight stay. Revered Swamiji arrived at Mumbai airport on March 15th afternoon, and made a drive to scotish Hospital, Malad where Smt Indu Bholanath Seth has confined in ICU, Sri Swamiji prayed for her quick recovery and excellent health. His visit brought solace to the family members.. Jnana Yajana at Prempuri Ashram ( March 16, 2011 – March 31, 2011) Sri Swamiji gave series of discourses on the subject of “Akshara Brahma Yoga” , chapter 8th of Bhagavadgita. In the evening He shared the world of wisdom on the subject “Mind, its mysteries and problem” Sri Swamiji guided in science of pranayam and yoga. During the stay, Sri Swamiji was invited to inaugurate the Holy Bhagavat Katha organized in the Holy memory of renowned musician and singer Padmashri Sri Purushottamdas Jhaloteji. Upon humble request of number of devotees Sri Swamiji graced their homes and conducted Satsang at Malad, Kandivali, Borivali, Dhobi – Talao and Lonavala etc., On March Revered Dr. Baharuddin Saiyadsa Sahib’s 100th Birthday was celebrated at famous Saita Palace, Malbar Hill, Revered Swamiji Greeted him upon his 75th Birthday also. And now both saints meeting was cherished by millions of Daudee vohra community, he is 52nd chief of Vohra community follows the very teaching of Prophet Mohammad and Holy Kuran. This religious festival was concluded on Sri Ram Navmi day by celebrating the birth of Lord Sri Rama followed by distribution of holy Prasad Sri Hanyman Jayanti Utsav ( April 18, 2011) The Hanuman Jayanti Utsav was celebrated at the Ashram. Maruti Yajna was performed with holy fire and chants by the priests of the temple along with twenty seven devotees who participated in performing the Yajna. Simultaneously the chanting from the holy scripts of Sunderkand filled divine vibrations during the Yajna worship. The Yajna was concluded with Maha Arati of Lord Sri Hanumanji. YTTC ( April 7, 2011- April 26, 20110) Gujarat Government deputed Sixty one Physical Training Teachers from various parts of the state at the Ashram for Yoga learning. ‘Yoga Teachers Training Program’ was conducted under the direction and guidance of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. With the prime support of Yoga Teacher Miss Sangita Thawani, along with other eminent faculties namely Dr.Varsha Dave (Gynecologist); Dr.Ina Patel (Pathologist); Dr.Ashok Nirvan (Physician); Dr.Amish Kshatriya( Orthopedics) Dr. Rajal Shukla (Ayurvedist); Dr.Khushali (Diabetologist); Smt.Chidrupini (Dietician); Pujya Sri Swami Muktanandji Maharaj (Patanjali Yog Sutra) and Prof. Suresh Patel(Management Consultant) rendered their services on this valuable YTTC program. The program added flavor with contribution from Sri Ramesh Tanna (Principal Editor, Gujart Times, New York), imparting teaching on Gujarati Literature. All the successful candidates were given certificate as Yoga Teachers recognized by the Gujarat University. 10th Brahmotsav of Sri Ashtalaxmi Mandir & Sri Chidananda Dhyan Mandir On April 29, 2011 Brahmotsava of Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan and Sri Swami Chidananda Yoga – Dhyan Mandir was celebrated at the Ashram in great enthusiasm with early morning Sri Yantra Pooja, Sri Navchandi Yajna, Bhandara and holy hymn singing in praise of God as mother from 9.30 am – 6.30 pm. The special dinner was served on the occasion of the Brahmotasav of Sri Sri Sri Ashtalakshmi Mataji. Also Pujya Sri Swamiji is a centurion blood donor and the ashram maintained the tradition of organizing the blood donation camp in the campus of the Ashram and total 71 blood bags were collected by the Red Cross Society. Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh Sammelan ( April 30, 2011 & May 1, 2011) Every year, at the ashram, devotees celebrate the birthday of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatamanandji Maharaj with great love and enthusiasm not the usual way by Bell, Bucce & Cake but in satsnag with saints by serving Daridranarayas, organizing blood donation camp, feeding poor etc. This year, it was organized even more special way.Two days Gujarat Divya Jivan Sammelan (convention) was held in which people joined from all the branches of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh. The regional representatives from various centers viz. Vadodara; Bharuch; Ankleswar; Surat; Valsad; Rajkot; Jamnagar; Surendranagar; Bhavnagar; Morbi; Wankaner; Dhrangdhra; Khedbramha; Rampura; Laxmipura; Mumbai; Delhi; Lucknow; Hyderabad; Banglore; attended the gathering with great enthusiasm and discussed the activities to run the individual center more creatively to serve the people keeping in front, the Mission of Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Mahahraj. They all stayed at the Ashram and had memorable time in company of many saints and devotees. On Saturday April 30, 2011, Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh organized Sri Swami Sri Chidananda Memorial lecture at Sindhu Bhavan, Ahmedabad from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. The eminent writer and thinker Sri Gunawant Shah (Vadodara) and the learned scholar and nationalist Dr. Subramaniam Swamy addressed the gathering in the jam-packed hall on the subject of “The current situation of our Country and our duties as a citizen of the country”. Both the speakers gave appropriate justice in their genius styles on the subject and received a huge applause from the audience. Dr. Swamy is a graduate from prestigious Harvard university and has lot more degrees and countless awards to his credits. His speech was full of inspiration to all. He Said that today, we suffer from wide spread corruption in the society causing unrest and chaos in the country. The people of our country have forgotten our ancient concept of Universal Religion. The money has been given undue importance and wrong index of social prestige by the people which must be discouraged by the youth of the society. We should elect our leaders based on their merits and sound character. They should be a Roll Model. Dr. Swamy emphasized in his speech that India has left great past and has inherited the rich tradition. Although our country has endured long slavery of nine hundred years under Moguls’ and English rule, India has capacity to give right direction to the world. On Sunday, May 1, 2011, Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh Sammelan continued at Sindhu Bhavan from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. The subject matter of discussion was on “Dharma Raksha-Rashtra Raksha” H. H. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj as President, chaired the discussion during the entire day. The eminent speakers were H H Swami Sri Adhyatmanandji Maharaj, H. H. A special satsang was held to mark this momentous day of Gurudev’s life. SEVA Projects – Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad is very active in providing the services to the poor and the sick in the society. “Manav Seva, Madhav Seva” has been the guiding principle for whoever has been associated and working at the ashram. The Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj used to take the great pleasure in serving one and all and the tradition continues. “Project READ” (Rural Educational Aid Distribution): Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad has taken up the Project READ for underprivileged & needy children of Rural area of Gujarat. It is an extensive program running in its fourth year that focuses on providing educational aid to the underserved Children in the form of distributing Slates, Black boards, chalk, Chalk Eraser pads to junior grade students ( of 1st through 4th grade) and notebooks of 150 & 200 pages to higher grade students ( of 5th through 12th grade). Last year about 75,000 notebooks, 4500 Slates & 300 Blackboards were distributed free. This year about one lakh notebooks has been distributed free through various centers of Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sang of Gujarat. Sri Arunbhai Oza & Sri Sanjaybhai Patel are doing wonderful work in coordinating, distributing and funding for this project. Also, many thanks to the selfless workers at various centers who go to schools and make it possible to reach to the needy children. They have been working silently and succeeded to make a difference in the lives of many tribal area children. Such students among them, who passed their degree course in Medical science, Engineering and other fields were recognized and awarded a special appreciation prize by Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj at a grand function held on June 12, 2011. Sri Swamiji congratulated entire student community and their parents for their sincere efforts in the direction of reformation of the community. Sri Arun Oza, Sri Sanjay Patel, Mr. Vanzara, Ms. Kavita and other dignitaries were present at this function. “Project Manav Seva”: Project Manav Seva is an extensive program that focuses on holistically helping the needy and indigent population. This Yajna was attended by large number of devotees. On June 1, 2011, Wednesday 744th Yoga & meditation camp was concluded. On June 15, 2011 there was a special Satsang and night long Japa Yajna for Lunar eclipse. Regular activities at the Ashram, weekly satsang, Grain distributions etc went as usual. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandajis Satsang programs during the month of June 2011 Ahmedabad On June 3, 2011 Central Bank of India at Ahmedabad celebrated their centenary celebration. It was 56th anniversary of local branch of Central Bank of India and it was 85th birth anniversary of Mr. Tarkeshwar Chakrabarty, a great union leader of the Central Bank. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was invited to preside over the function. A voluntary blood drive was organized and 206 donors donated the blood. Sri Swamiji said “of course now everything has been done by computer, yet the operation of the machine is done by man. Man behind the machine must keep his human values up to the mark. Because it is only human values and attitudes in public relation and administration which keeps banks business grow. So, keep on rolling your ball by keeping yourself more prompt, perfect, alert, sharp and courteous. Your kind and soft spoken attitude will pay you. You will flourish and shine”. Sri Swamiji prayed for very bright and prominent future for the bank. On June 4 & June 5, 2011 Ladies club of Ahmedabad Medical Association celebrated their annual function “Ladycon”. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj lit the lamp, Dr. Nirmala Wadhwani president of AMA Lady wing, Dr. Darbar, President AMA and secretary Dr. Mehul and Mr. Kaushik Patel former minister for urban development, Gov’t of Gujarat and more were present. Sri Swamiji spoke on the subject of Common heath related problems & simple solution through Yoga. As always, Swamiji put emphasis on regular practice of Yogasana, Pranayam, Meditation, daily prayer and life in moderation for happy, healthy and peaceful living. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Month of July commenced with thunder and storm around Gujarat, keeping Ahmedabad ‘just dry”. Around the city thousands of devotees and spiritual organizations organized mass prayers, Yajna and religious treats etc, and on July 3rd after holy chariot festival, it rained; it poured and made everyone happy and cheerful. Chariot Festival: July 3, 2011 happened to be holy Chariot festival. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and a group of devotees went to main temple of Jagganthaji in the city for the darshan of the Lord. Here, the festivity started at early morning around 3.45 am. Chariot moved with the big procession of tens of thousands devotees, singing and dancing Lord ‘s name in the city around 24 km radius area for about 18 hours. Pujya Swamiji was invited for running commentary of this grand event. Doordarshan TV and channel nine gave coverage to this event. In the evening, at ashram also there was a great festivity. A beautiful chariot was decorated and with Orchestra, procession of the Lord moved around the ashram. About six hundred devotees joined for singing and dancing Lord’s Glories. Prasad was served to all. Gurupurnima celebration ( July 15, 2011) Holy Gurupurnima was celebrated in great reverence and devotion at Sri Swami Chidananda Yoga-Dhyan Mandir. After Paduka Pooja and devotional music, prasad was served to all the devotees who were present for the function. More than fifteen hundred devotees were served prasad. Jnana Yajna ( July 16, 2011 – July 23, 2011) Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj conducted Jnan-Yajna sharing the words of wisdom on Sri Shankara’s famous ‘Atma Shatakam’ daily from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. These sessions were attended by a large number of devotees. On July 24, 2011 Aradhana day of Most Worshipful and Revered Gurubhagawan Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s 48th Holy Mahasamadhi day satsang was held. It was celebrated with Guru Paduka Pujan, devotional music and discourses by Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji. Dr. M. J. Patani Saheb, Sri Birendra Das, Smt. Rupa Majmudar also shared the thoughts of GuruBhakti. More than 600 devotees attended the satsang. They all had Mahaprasad after the satsang. Daily Yogasana classes, Reiki Teaching and Yogic treatment, Narayan Seva and Grain Distribution, daily night Satsang were the main activities of ashram carried out as usual during this month also. Grocery distribution to needy and poor also was done as usual in the first week of the month. Holy Sri Satyanarayan Pooja, Sri Lalita Sahasranam and Sri Gayatri Yajna were performed on full moon day. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji elaborated in details and gave practical tips on how to live joyously in retired life There was a grand meeting of, Saints, Sages and heads of all religious trusts of Gujarat to plan the policy, how to deal with present Government’s new law and order for religious trust. The presence of more than 200 saints attended this assembly and shared their thoughts. Respected ministers of Law and spiritual endorsements also remain present, Sivananda ashram lead the meeting. Annual day of laughing clubs of Ahmedabad (there are 219 laughing clubs in the city) was celebrated in presence of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji, Sri Swamiji advised to be cheerful at all the time keeping in front the Goal of life , ” God Realiztion” always. Dr. Mukund Mehta, founder president of laughing club introduced Sri Swamiji as a “Evergreen Swamiji”. On July, 18 2011 Gayatri Parivar of Ahmedabad organized ‘Ek sham GURU ke naam’ function to felicitate founder president Sri Ramasharana Acharyaji’s centenary celebration at H. K. College hall. Tech 1st year, a grand five day long orientation programme was organized at Town hall of Gandhinagar (Capital of Gujarat State) by renowned NIRMA university forenoon. Hundreds of devotees have offered to Lord Vishwanath a special pooja, Rudrabhishek, Rudripath, Prathiveshwar Pooja, Prahar Pooja during the month of Shravan. On August 15, 2011 morning Secretary, Sri Rajivbhai Shah hoisted the National Flag in the Ashram together with morning Yoga attendees and school children. Children from Sri Narayanguru Vidyalaya sang National Anthem and parade song. Janmashtmai Utsav (August 22, 2011) The holy Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. About eight thousand devotees including four devotees from France participated in big festivity through out the day. Bhakti sangeet by Smt. & Sri Devesh Dave from Bharuch and Smt Mayurikaben Oza brought a special fervor in the atmosphere. The culmination of the evening was mid-night Krishna kirtan, just before Pragtya of the Lord Krishna; Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj overwhelmed the devotees with Krishna Nama kirtan and Mahanisha meditation. All the devotees had divine Darshan of Sri Lalaji Maharaj’s in his decorated cradle. Prasad was distributed to all. 3 rd Mahasamadhi Day of Gurumaharaj – Sunday, Aug 28, 2011 being the 3rd Mahasamadhi day of Sri Gurubhagawan Chidanandaji Maharaj special satsang was observed. It commenced with a satsang on 124th Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj on Sept 8, 2011. It was celebrated by devotees with great devotion at the Ashram. Early dawn began with silent meditation and prayer. Mid-day meal was served to Daridra Narayan in the under privilege area of the town by enthusiastic volunteers of the ashram. Shri Marutbhai Dave, Vice-President of the ashram took a lead, assisted by Shri Tejasbhai Bhavsar and a team of caring people. In the evening an elaborated paduka poojan, satsang, bhajans and kirtans were organized under the privileged patronage of Revered Dr. M. J. Patani Saheb. 95th Birth Anniversary of Gurumaharaj H. H. Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj ( Sept 24, 2011). A special satsang, paduka poojan, and poor feeding was done on Gurumaharaj Birth anniversary. Navaratri Festival or Devi worship ( Sept 28, 2011 – Oct 6, 2011) A holy Navaratri festival, ten days of Devi worship commenced on Sept 28, 2011. A group chanting of Srimad Bhagvad Gita in the forenoon and Sri Durga Saptasati parayan in the afternoon followed by Garba at night. On Ashtami day havan & Kanya Pujan was performed. Nine days worship culminated on Oct 6, 2011 on Dassera day. Yoga camp for Advanced group (Sept 26, 2011 – Oct 5, 2011) A group of Yoga enthusiasts from Sivananda Yoga Center of Taipei, Taiwan visited ashram for a special Yoga workshop. A special ten days of advance yoga-learning course was conducted under the guidance of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and Professor Yogi Parth from Ayurved University, Jamnagar. A group of devotees from France & Germany headed by Mrs. Michelle participated in the festivity and yoga learning during the month of September at the ashram. They joined in the prayer meetings with enthusiasm and sang songs also in the praise of the Lord. A regular activities of the ashram; Yoga classes, Beginner’s Yoga Training, Reiki training, daily satsang, weekly satsang, special Vedant class, Chandipath, Sunderkand, Mrutyunjay Mantra Japa, Poor Feeding, Grocery distribution, Yoga therapy, Homeopathic treatment etc were carried out as usual during the month of September. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj’s satsang programs & tours during the month of September 2011 Varanasi (Banaras) August 31, 2011 -Sept 11, 2011) Upon a very pleasant request of Sri Sri Maa Anandamayi ashram, Varanasi, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj visited Varanasi for Srimad Bhagavt Saptah. Thirty seven devotees from Gujarat join Sri Swamiji for this sacred spiritual feast. On August 31, 2011 a devotee group together with Sri Swamiji arrived at Varanasi . The holy Bhagavat Katha commenced after traditional rituals on Sept 1, 2011 happened to be holy Sri Ganesh Chaturthi. Students and staff of Sri Sri Maa Anandamayi’s Kanya Peeth and devotees from Gujarat enjoyed thoroughly the entire eight days of satsang. Twice a day Pujya Swamiji gave discourses on glories of the Lord from Srimad Bhagavatam accompanied by musicians. It was very enchanting and soul elevating week for all. Media coverage was given by news paper and TV Channel Aryan of the entire event. Revered Swamiji’s discourses were recorded and telecasted everyday for the benefit of people at large. During his stay at Varanasi, Sri Swamiji paid homage to Lord Vishwanath Mahadev & performed holy Ganga Arati also. Sri Swamiji planted saplings in the famous Sri Ram Kund and Navgriha Vatika. Swamiji paid visit to Sri Sri Maa’s hospital and distributed fruits, biscuits for the ailing patients and the medical staff. Thanks to Revered Panu Brahmachari (Panu Da) for the invitation as well best arrangements of lodging and boarding of Sri Swamiji and the entire group of devotees from Gujarat.They return back to Ahmedabad on Sept 11, 2011. During the travel by train large group of devotees came for Sri Swamiji’s darshan at Lucknow railway station. Dwarka (Sept 15, 2011) A group of devotees accompanied by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji visited Sri Dwarkadhish temple in the early morning on September 15th. Sri Swamiji paid homage to Revered Jagat Guru Shankaracharyaji Maharaj of Sri Sharda Peeth Dwarka as well he paid his honor to Revered Sri Mulshankar Bhatt Saheb, Principal of Primary School run by ACC works Dwarka. Sri Swamiji cherish his childhood memories of attending primary school education in Dwarka. Young boy Jatin ( Sri Swamiji) learned to see time in the clock from Sri Bhatt Saheb. Jamnagar – Upon very pressing invitation from Dr. Vikash Shinha Dean , M.P. Shah Medical College, Sri Swamiji visited Jamnagar on Sept 15th afternoon. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited to preside over convocation function of final year (M.B.B.S) students receiving their diplomas. Awards and Gold medals were awarded to the all round best students by Sri Swamiji. In his convocation speech Sri Swamiji congratulated the graduate students for passing and receiving degree (M.B.B.S) for noble profession of serving the people. HE said that pour your heart in serving the living God with your expert knowledge where ever you may be established. Serve all, love all, be kind and be compassionate. Remember also our mother land India. Sri Swamiji sang most inspiring song of “Eighteen Ities” of Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Serenity, regularity, absence of vanity,Sincerity, simplicity, veracity,Equanimity, fixity, non-irritability,Adaptability, humility, tenacity,Integrity, nobility, magnanimity,Charity, generosity, purity.Practice daily these eighteen ‘ities’,You will soon attain immortality.You cannot attain this in the university.You can attain this in the Forest University. Sri Swamiji thanked to the Dean and staff of medical college for their wonderful gesture of inviting Sri Swamiji Maharaj for this noble event. Dr. Viral Chhaya was the coordinator of the entire program and hosted Sri Swamiji and his team for the over night stay. A lovely satsang was organized at his home which will be cherished by all who attended the satsang. Surat (Sept 16, 2011 – Sept 22, 2011) Sri Swami Adhyamanandaji Maharaj visited Surat for a weeklong program. Publications Newsletters News in the Slide Show Deepavali Annakoot Darshan ( Oct 26, 2011)Divya Darshan of Maa Sri Ashtalaxmi at Sivananda Asharam, Ahmedabad. Navaratri Celebration continued ( Sept 28, 2011 – October 6, 2011) The month of October commenced with continuation of Navaratri festival. Ashram was agoging with divine vibrations from early dawn to late midnight; with chants of Srimat Bhagavad Gita in the forenoon, Sri Durga saptasati in the afternoon and Garba at night. On holy Durgashtami day Havan was performed. On eighth day of Navaratri, Kanya Pujan was performed to about one hundred Kanya (young Girls) and they were adored with ceremonial worship, presented gifts, cloths, dakshina & food etc. Tenth day of Navaratri the Holy Vijaya dashami day was the final day of worship. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj read out all ancient Holy Scriptures stanza’s for the benefit of devotees as the grace of Goddess of education (Sri Saraswati Ahvahan). Deepavali Celebration ( Oct 24, 2011 -Oct 27, 2011) Deepavali, a festival of light was celebrated in true Sivanandic spirit of sharing, caring, loving and purifying at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. On Dhanteras day (Oct 24, 2011) a group Laxmi Poojan by large numbers of devotees was performed at Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan from 4.00 pm to late night. A few weeks of planning and preparations of hundreds of food varieties by so many devotees culminated in Grand Annakoot offering to Sri Ashtalaxmi Maa on Deepavali day (October 26, 2011). Entire day, over thousands of people came to the ashram for the Holy Darshan and to receive the grace of Sri Sri Sri Ashtalakshmi Maa. Late in the evening Aarti was performed by Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Then came the night – a real Deepavali spirit, a real karma yoga, of preparing packages from Diwali Annakoot prasad by ashram’s devotees up to early morning of the next day a New Year day (Gujarati calendar) on Thursday October 28, 2011. About 1500 packages, each containing ½ kg sweets & 1 kg snack were distributed as Narayana seva to under privilege family. Thousands of devotees paid their homage to Sri Sri Sri Ma Ashtalakshmi and paid their regards to Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and other Mahatama’s of the Ashram. Ashram continued their routine activities of temple services, grocery distribution to poor, needy and down trodden, poor feeding, yoga and reiki classes, satsang, Japa and meditation classes as usual. Tours & Spiritual programs of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj for the Month of October 2011 Ahmedabad : On October 2, 2011 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj attended prayer meeting together with religious head of many organizations at Sri Sabarmati ashram, on the auspicious occasion of Revered Mahatma Gandhiji’s 143rd birth Anniversary. Gandhinagar : On October 17, 2011 Pujya Sri Swamiji was invited as a guest at Golden Jubilee function of NGO working towards anti narcotic and de-addiction (Nasha Bandhi Mandal). The function was organized at Banquet Hall of Governor House at Gandhinagar. H.E. Governor of Gujarat Dr. Kamalaji presided over the function. Jaipur : On October 7, 2011 Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj arrived at Jaipur. A floral welcome was accorded to Swamiji with great love by the devotees of the Divine life Society branch, Jaipur. Sri Swamiji was invited by the DLS branch, Jaipur at Sri Siddheshwar Mahadev; Rajapark Jaipur, satsang was attended by a large number of devotees. They felt blessed to be in satsang with Sri Swamiji Maharaj and looking forward to His next visit already. On Monday, October 10, 2011 forenoon Sri Swamiji addressed a big assembly of students of Sri Swami Keshavanandaji Maharaj institute of Science and Technology. As always, Sri Swamiji inspired youth for blood donations and about 608 students donated blood at Blood donation drive organized after Sri Swamiji’s discourse. In the afternoon, Sri Swamiji addressed the student community of Global Institute of Technology. At both institutes large scale Tree plantation was done. During his stay, Sri Swamiji Maharaj paid his respect to Sri Navalkishor Sharmaji, a past Governor of Gujarat. They both have mutual love, regards & respect for each other. Sri Sharmaji is a admirer of Sivnanda Asharam activities and had visited ashram many a times when he was in the post of Governor of Gujarat. Delhi – On October 11, 2011 Sri Swamiji left for Delhi. Honoring a pressing invitation of Sri Brijmohan Lalji Munjal, Chairman of Hero Motor Corporation and all members of his divine family, Swamiji visited Delhi for Munjal family function. During his stay, Sri Swamiji Maharaj visited sick and ailing patients at All India Institute of Medical Science and Shahdara mental hospital.
