The planned programs, satsangs, construction of Chidananda Yoga Bhavan, Jnan Yajana – “Bhasya parayana of Prasthan Treye “, Yoga & Meditation camps, YTTC, distribution of Sivananda & Chidananda literature – a book release “Prakash Punj” (Guajarati translation by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji of “Light Fountain” by Sri Swami Chidananda), “Chidananda Smruti Pravachan” series at various Divya Jivan branches in India and USA, Canada & UK during Centenary Tour 2015 of Pujya Swami Adhyatmananadaji Maharaj, Chidananda Yoga DVD (a new release), Youth programs, Seva projects, Srimad Bhagawat Katha by Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj on Vyasasan are going on and more will continue ……… But, let us imbibe virtues and teachings from the Life Divine of GuruMaharaj and that is the Celebration of Chidananda Birth Centenary, in a “True Sense” !On January 1 2016 satsang & prayer session was held here at sacred ashram of Gurudev Swami Sivananda, prayers for the peace and harmony of the world at large. Peace in the East & West, Peace in the North & South. Peace abides amongst the individuals as well as Nations. “Jeevan Yoga” series by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandji Maharaj (commenced from January 8, 2016) : “Yoga way of Life brings Happiness of sound mind in sound body. Yogic living implies discriminative living. Yoga is equanimity, equipoise or equilibrium. It is skill in the performance of actions. Brahmotsav of Ram Hanuman Temple (Jan 26, 2016) Maruti Yajana” was performed to mark Brahmotsav of Holy Sri Ram Hanuman Temple and Mahaprasad was served to all the devotees. Also Sri Sunderkand Parayan by Sri Ajay Yajnikji of Delhi was organized on this occasion in the evening and a great number of devotees joined the holy satsang. Every body enjoyed his melodious singing in praise of Lord Sri Rama. Youth Programs (Jan 30, 2016): As a part of Sri Swami Chidananda Centenary Celebration number of competitions were organized for youth at the Ashram. Elocution competition, Painting competition and “kabaddi” a team game were planned. About four hundred youth participated the first level competitions. This will be followed by level II in February 2016. Sri A. J. Shah, commissioner of higher education and chairman of higher Secondary education Board inaugurated the function. Credit goes to Sri Arunbhai Oza, Dr. Prof. Chirag Pandya & Sri Harshadbhai Trvedi to organize, coordinate & conduct the entire event in the spirit of Karma Yoga for the benefits of Youth. Yoga Through ( SIVA) Sivananda institutes of Yoga-Vedanta Academy : Ashram regular Yoga classes in seven batches for beginners and advanced yoga students carried out this month, as usual. A team of dedicated yoga teachers conduct and coordinate all the classes. As always, on third of the month wheat and grain were distributed to poor and needy families through “Vishwanath Seva Kendra”. Many devotees participated in regular religious worships at the Ashram namely Guru Paduka Pooja on Thursday, a special evening worship at Sri Ashtalaksmi Bhavan on Friday, Sri Sunderkand Path on Saturday, a special Satsang on Sunday and daily night satsangs. Also Sri Lalita Sahasranam at Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Satyanarayan pooja on full Moon day were performed. Satsang & Pograms of H.H. Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of January 2016 Mehsana (January 3, 2016) : Annual gathering of Sri “Dasnam Goswami” community was organized at Mehsana. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited to preside over the function. Number of Saints, Mayor of Mehsana Municipal Corporation, other dignitaries of Government of Gujarat and many leading citizens from Mehsana district graced the occasion. Pujya Swamiji shared HIS thoughts on virtuous living as a householder to achieve the Goal of Life – God Realization. Sri Swamiji cited the example of Saint Tulsidasji, Sri Vallabhacharyaji, who were Grihstha Swami (called Goswami), they reached to the Supreme state. He stressed to perform the duties well with remembering Hari Nama. HE stressed to nurture the Children (boy & girl equally), give them love and care that they need and take care of your older parents. Godhara (January 10, 2016) ; Regional conference of Lions Club, Godhara was presided by Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Lion Governor of the local club graced the occasion. Swamiji’s speech was well appreciated. He praised the ideal of service to mankind and encouraged them to continue good works for the poor & needy. Bharuch (January 12, 2016) : Pujya Swamiji attended prayer meeting held on passing away of Sri Mahendrabhai Shroff, who was past president of Divine Life Society, Bharuch branch. He was 83 years old. He was committed to the Mission of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. He was instrumental in starting Sivananda prayer hall, general hospital, eye bank and more and all these institutes are doing great services to people in that area. Tour to Rojento, Rampur Kampo, Khedbrahma & Ambaji (Jan 14, 2016): On January 14, Uttarayana, the day of Sun entering in its northern region, Revered Swamiji and group of devotees made a tour to Rojento, Rampur Kampo, Khedbrahma and Ambaji. Daily discourses (3.30 pm to 7.00pm) by Pujya Swamiji from February 29, 2016 and will conclude on March 6, 2016 with a grand Shivaratri Utsav on March 7, 2016 . Glories of Simad Bhagavata : “The book is named Bhagavata because it speaks of the glory of Bhagavan or Vishnu. It contains the essence of all the Puranas. The Bhagavata Dharma as taught by the nine sages to King Nimi in the beginning of the eleventh Skandha, is thrilling and soul-stirring. The tenth Skandha contains all the Lilas of the Lord. Srimad Bhagawata consists of eighteen thousand Slokas. The teachings given by Lord Krishna to Uddhava on the eve of His departure from this world, are wonderful. These are contained in the eleventh Skandha. Sri Krishna clears all the doubts of Uddhava, His friend, foremost disciple and the chief of the Yadavas. He gives instructions on a variety of subjects. But the one ringing note is: “See Me in everything. Surrender yourself to Me. Do all actions for my sake. Cut off all sorts of attachments. Have perfect unswerving devotion to Me. Sing My glories.” – Swami Sivananda << More>> << More>> Medical camp (February 2, 2016 – February 8, 2016) A week long Medical camp was organized by Jai Bhagwan Trust under the leadership of Sri Navneet Vyas. It was inaugurated by H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. A team of seven experts of Acupressure Treatment (for chronic pain syndrome) worked to teach others and provided treatments to needy during the camp. services. More than 1800 patients received treatment and found various degrees of pain relief of their ailing problems and about 250 enthusiastic volunteers were taught the technique. Among them, there are a few devotees of Sivananda Ashram, who learned. The camp was a huge success. Since then, one more service added at Sivananda Health clinic at the Ashram by the certified volunteers who learned this Acupressure Treatment. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday free acupressure treatment has been started and on Saturday late evening all acupressure healers group makes their weekly refreshing program. On the concluding day of the camp, Pujya Swami Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj honored Sri Guruji, Navneetbhai Vyas and awarded him a title of “Seva Bharati Ratna”. People were benefited and they all appreciated this program very much. On Feb 27, 2016 “Sri Swami Chidananda Memorial Lecture” was organized in the evening at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. H. E. Governor of Nagaland and Assam, Sri Padmanabha Acharya (86 years) was the special guest. He spoke on length all about National Integration, Unity in diversity. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj illustrated the Life of Gurudev Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj and portrayed the very spirit of Sri Swamiji Maharaj as a lover of Mother India. H E. Governor joined for the dinner at the Ashram also. Youth program continues (Feb 28, 2016) As a part of Chidananda Birth Centenary Celebration, Elocution contest was organized for students from all the Universities of Gujarat. After screening from various levels, about 120 boys and girls participated in the contest. Competition continued from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Best first three and best college were presented cash prize of Rs.7500, Rs.5100 and Rs.3100. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj motivated the youth for valued based education. Program was co-coordinated by Sri Arun Oza, a trustee and Dr. Chirag Pandya, a member of Board of Management. Services & Seva Projects: Followings are some of the areas in which the ashram has been working to make the difference in people’s life. “Manav Seva, Madhav Seva” has been the guiding principle for whoever has been associated and working at the ashram. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj on Vyasa Asan( Feb 29, 2016 – March 6, 2016). Jnan Yajana for seven days during Srimad Bhagawat Katha at the Ashram with daily discourses (from 3.30 pm to 7.00pm) impregnated with wisdom of Karma Bhakti & Jnana by Pujya Swamiji Maharaj – indeed was a spiritual feast for the Devotees at the ashram. It started on February 29, 2016 and concluded on March 6, 2016. Pujya Swamiji narrating glories of Lord’s Vishnu, Lord Rama Avatara, Sri Krishna Janmotasav, Sudama Akhyan, the Bhagawat dharma, Sri Lallaji’s Sringar darshan, daily Kirtan, Lord Krishna’s departure, Uddhav Gita and more……… all were wonderful. Holy Shivaratri Celebration ( March 7, 2016) : Vedik Hymns and chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” filled the air with Divine vibrations as they celebrated Sacred Maha Shivratri on March 7, 2016. Holy Shri Vishwanath Temple was agog with worship of Lord Shiva. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj offered a first pooja & Abhishek at 3.45 am for the peace of Word. It started with Shodshopachar Pujan at 3.45 am and continued until the next day 4.00 am. Continuous flow of devotees came to the Lord Vishvanath Temple to pray and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva – who is considered Ashutosh. The Siva Lingam was worshipped by washing it with milk, curd, honey and rose water as the chants of Vedic Hymns, Namakam, Chamakam, Rudram, AshtadhyaayiRudra, Purushasuktam in praise of Lord Shiva. Shiva Lingam was adorned with special Shringar, Bilva leaves. Bilva leaves are believed to be very sacred and considered the best offering to Lord Shiva. Pujya Swamiji Maharaj performed Maha Aarati. There is a strong belief that sincere worship of Lord Shiva on the auspicious day of Shivaratri, absolves person of sins and liberates him from the cycle of birth and death. Bhakti Sangeet (Devotional Songs) in praise of the Lord through out the night by outstanding singers namely Dr.Vasavda gruop, Smt. Dr. Monica Shah of Aradhana School, Pandit Sri Nirajchandra Parikh, Artists from Bharuch brought a special fervor to already charged atmosphere. Next day morning on March 8, 2016 a grand mahaprasad was served to the thousands of devotees at the ashram. Satsang Programs & Tours of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of March 2016 Philosophers Meet at Guajarat University: Philosophy Department of Gujarat University organized two days (March 5 & 6, 2016) meet of philosophers of Gujarat which was attended by large crowd of philosophy lovers. Sri Swamiji Maharaj was invited to speak on ” Patanjali Yoga darshan”. HE wrapped up the essence of Patanjali Philosophy very simple way, this rather difficult Text of philosophy to the understanding of even the beginners. There are so many commentaries on this text by many learned scholars, Spiritual Masters and Philosophy Teachers. Swamiji laid emphasis on regular practice of the knowledge learned from this text rather then just reading, discussing and intellectually understanding the subject. On March 7, 2016 Revered Swamiji graced and blessed grand Laghu Rudra and Blood donation camp organized by Sri Eklingji Mewada Brahman Samaj at open air theatre of Kankaria Lake. Delhi (March 10, 2016 – March 14, 2016) : “Art of Living” organized the World Culture Festival to celebrate 35 years of “The Art of Living”, founded by Padma ViBhushan H. H. Sri Ravishankarji, from March 11-13 in Delhi, India. Revered Swamiji was invited as a special guest on this occasion. 155 countries, over 3.5 million attendees, 1 family, three days of celebrating diversity, plurality and acceptance. Over 37,000 artists from around the world performed on the 7-acre stage, exhibiting their talent to echo the message of unity in diversity. The World Culture Festival demonstrated the power of unity and peace, celebrating the spirit of humanity like never before – through art, music and dance. Gandhi Nagar (March 18, 2016): Amedabad chapter of Indian Red Cross organized felicitation function for new centurion donors and extra ordinary volunteering blood collection organization at Raj Bhawan, Gandhinagar. H. E. Governor of Gujarat, Mr. Om Prakash Kohliji presided over the function. In his speech, he recognized and praised Sri Swamiji for his blood donation for 117 times, who has inspired countless people to donate the blood as well as organized blood donation drives all over India & abroad. He added that I asked Swamiji, the secret of His ever bright and vibrant face ? And Swamiji said, who gives it is the one who receives it, I am the instrument only. HE says, “Donate generously, fearlessly and serve the Mankind, be an instrument in HIS service and that is living Divine Life “. Mahudha (March 21, 2016 ) : About this time of a year, around Purnima day people in Lakhs go to pilgrimage to Lord Sri Krishna’s famous temple at Dakore by Pad-Yatra (walking). A group of ashram’s devotees organized free food drive and serve people on the road side. This selfless service has been a routine every year for the last fifteen years. Sri Swamiji, himself also has been a part of the serving team and inspired others to join in. Vemar (March 21, 2016 – March 23, 2016): Anoopam Mission at Vemar(near Baroda) celebrated Most worshipful and Revered Sri Sahebdada’s 75 th birthday in great devotion and enthusiasm. A group of devotees from the Ashram with Revered Sri Swami Maharaj attended the function. Ahmedabad (March 26, 2016): Inauguration function of Late Smt. Kanchangauri Jamnadas Shah Health Centre was organized by Health & Care organization. Pujya Swamiji was invited to preside over the function. It was attended by doctors & other dignitaries. On March 27, 2016 Musical therapy Clinic & Research Centre Euphonious healing was inaugurated by Reveded Sri Swamiji Maharaj by lighting the lamp at Ahmedabad Management Association. Chaitra Vasant Navratri & Ramnavami Utsav (April 8, 2016 -April 15, 2016) was celebrated in the ashram’s temple with great enthusiasm and devotion. Sri Ramcharit Navanha Parayan was recited everyday, led by devotees and Sri Kamlesh Shastri ji. Culmination was on Holy Sri Ram Navami satsang on April 15, 2016 with special archana, arati and prasad in Sri Ram – Hanuman temple. H. H. Shankaracharyaji of Goverdhan Math Puri, Srimat Swami Nishchalanandaji Maharaj’s evening satsang was organized at the Ashram on April 5, 2016. A large number of devotees attended this memorable event. Saints and sages from all over Gujarat graced the occasion. YTTC (April 12, 2016 – May 5, 2016) Yoga Teachers Training camp was organized for a special group of twenty one Yoga teachers from Sivananda Yoga Studio, Taipei(Taiwan) under leadership of Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and Yogi James Lo, President of Yoga and Sports Federation of Taiwan. Hanuman Jayanti (April 22, 2016) : Holy Sri Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated with Maruti Yajna and puja, archana at Sri Ram-Hanuman temple of Sivananda Ashram. On April 29, 2016 16th annual Brahmotsava of Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan & Sri Chidananda Dhyan Mandir was celebrated with Navachandi Yajna, Maha Arti & Garba at night. About 750 devotees were served maha prasad in the evening. On April 30, 2016 in the evening kathak dance performance directed by Dr. Neha Shukla of Mudra School from Jamnagar enchanted the audience. Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh ( May 1, 2016) Annual meeting: May 1, 2016 Annual convention of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh was organized from 3 pm to 7 pm. More than 400 members from all over Gujarat attended this memorable event. It started with prayers & Guru Vandana and Sri Arun Oza, a trustee of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh welcomed all and special guests. Mr. Harivadan Antani ( DLS, Rajkot) Mr. Ashwin Pancholi ( DLS, Surendranagar ), Mr. Pramod Desai ( DLS, Bharuch and Ankleshwar ) presented brief report of their activities. Prof. Jay Vasavada from Saurashtra University, Sri Bhagyesh Jha and H. H. Sri Swami Nikhileshwaranandaji Maharaj of Sri Ramkrishna Mission of Baroda gave very inspiring discourses in convention. At night, Sangeet Ratna Mr. Aniket Khandekar presented Indian classical vocal music. The highlight of the evening on May 2, 2016 was a grand performance of a musical Mono Play “SOORDAS” by famous Sri Mr. Shekhar Sen ji. Thanks to Gujarat Sangeet Natak Academy, Gandhinagar. Sri Swamiji Maharaj very gracefully, felicitated Mr. Shekhar Sen ji. Also Dr. Tejas Patel (Cardiologist) and Yogi James Lo, President, Yoga and Sports Federation of Taiwan were honored with the title of Natya Ratna Chudamani, Manav Bhushan ,Yoga Ratna respectively. President of Gujarat Sangeet Natak Academy and very imminent people attended the function. Birthday celebration of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji (May 3, 2016): With deep devotion and enthusiasm devotees at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad, celebrated 72nd the birthday of their beloved Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. As always, it was celebrated in a spiritual way with more Japa, Meditation and in the presence Holy Saints on May 3, 2016. The day began with group prayers in early morning which followed a special felicitation program by morning yoga attendees. Sri Swamiji Maharaj distributed prasad to all students. After paying homage at the shrine of Sri Gurudev at Chidananda Dhyan Mandir, Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhawan, Sri Rama Hanuman Temple & Sri Vishwanath Temple, Sri Swamiji Maharaj joined the devotees in “Guru Paduka Pujan” & “Aayushya Homam” which continued till mid-day. At mid-day a delicious lunch was served to hundreds of the Daridranarayana in underserved area of the town. At the ashram hundreds of devotees were served Mahaprasad. Saints & Acharya of many organization present on the evening function and honored Pujya Swamiji Maharaj. Evening was graced by Saints & Acharya from Sri Krishna temple, Sri Jagannath temple, Gita Mandir, Church, Mosque, Gurudwara and from Brahma Kumaris. Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Sri Gautam Shah awarded certificates to all teachers of 37 th Advanced Yoga teachers Training Course from Taipee, Taiwan. At night, artists of Nrutya Bharti presented Bharat Natyam Indian classical dance recital. It earned praise of all. The evening function continued in festive mood and culminated in guided meditation by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj at midnight. Thus the whole day’s celebrations concluded very late at night. Satsang Programs & Tours of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of March 2016 Sarkhej (April 1, 2016): On April 1, 2016 Founder President of Bharati Ashram, Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Vishwambhar Bharatiji’s 87 th happy birth day was celebrated at His Sarkhej Ashram. Pujya swamiji graced the function. Sri Karshanbhai Patel of Nirma University and other dignitaries were attended the function. Newly constructed Senior citizen home was inaugurated on this occasion. It was followed by feeding to poor. Ahmedabad (April 3, 2016): Inaugural ceremony of Global Hospital in the West Ahmedabad was graced by Pujya Swamiji and Sri Rameshbhai Oza. There were many saints and Acharya of religious organizations also graced the occasion. On April 17, 2016 Devotees at Tatva Tirth Institute of Vedant Learning celebrated Spiritual head H.H. Publications Newsletters Spiritual festivity continued with Navachandi Yajana and worship of Maa Sri Ashtalaxmi on April 29, 2016 and concluded with Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj’s 72 nd Birthday celebration on May 3, 2016. 37 th YTTC through SIVA (May 21, 2016 – June 9, 2016): Yoga Teacher Training Course program commenced with grace of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. About 20 students from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Himmachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, USA, and Portugal attended the course. 220 hours training was imparted with Yogasana, Pranayama, Meditation technique, basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, Gita, Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Philosophy and Psychology of Yoga and Reiki, the science of natural healing. It is schedule to conclude on June 9, 2016. 785 th Yoga, Mediatation and Pranayam Camp (May 23, 20106 – June 1, 2016): Camp was commenced with lightening of lamp by Sri. Prakash Soni Trustee of Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sangh. Sri. Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj conducted the camp. A special session of “Tratak Kriya” was organized with candle light meditation which was followed by potluck on May 23rd. Camp is schedule to conclude on June 1, 2016. 22nd Anniversary celebration of Sri Vishwanath Mahadev Temple( May 20, 2014): Early morning traditional Shodashopachar was offered to Lord Vishvanath by priest & Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Large numbers of devotees joined in sacred Homatak Laghurudra Havan with Vedic hymns chanting in the forenoon. It concluded with offering final oblation to Yagna Narayan & Maha-Arti by Sri Swamiji. It was soul elevating visit to Ujjain Kumbh Mela . . Nasik (May 8, 2016) H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited to address Sri Vasant Rao Naik Memorial lecture at famous Ramghat of the bank of River Godavari, Nasik. It was a big assembly of estimated about 40,000 people, blessed by inspiring speech of Sri Swamiji for two full hours. Swamiji shared his words of wisdom and led the listeners in values from Indian Asian Literatures.In his sharing Rev. Swamiji said drink the nectar of Vedas and Upanishads, Gita, Ramayana and Puranas, Dhammapd of Buddha and Kalpsutras of Mahavir. Even holy Guru Granth Sahib of Sikh community, being a common message of truth, non-violence, purity, character and adhere of godly hood. Mumbai (May 9, 2016): It was Holy Akshay Tritiya day; Sri Swamiji visited in Goraksha Ashram at Borivalli, Mumbai. He had the darshan and satsang with H. H. Sri Gulabnathji Maharaj of Nath Sampradaya. Late evening Swamiji arrived back to Ahmedabad. Delhi (May 10 & 11, 2016): Sri Swamiji was at Delhi for two days, HE stayed at Dwarka and Haus Khas. Satsang was organized at both of these places and Sri Swamiji Maharaj returned back to the ashram on May 12th morning. Chharodi at Gandinagar -Surkhej Road (May 23, 2016) : Honoring invitation of Director Education of Nirma University, Sri. Swamiji Maharaj graced the function held for Universities’ new recruited professors. At evening function Sri. Swamiji spoke in length living virtuous life and value of “Positive attitude” in daily living, connecting the understanding of human elements in public dealings. Bhavnagar (May 29, 2016): Dr. Naren Joshi, a trustee of Sri Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh passed away at Bhavnagar. Sri. You will obtain his grace, And reach the goal of life.” – Swami Sivananda Month of July was highlighted with sacred Rath Yatra festival, Gurupurnima Celebrations and Aradhana day satsang at Ashram, Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) of the Lord Jagannatha at the Ashram ( July 16, 2015 ) The significance of Chariot Festival as per Vedic scriptures is that anyone who sees Lord Jagannatha or pulls His chariots earns an immense spiritual benefits. By His supreme potency, the Lord agrees to personally enter the form of Deity, just to accept the loving service of His devotees. In this sense the Deity is non-different from the Lord Himself. And once a year Lord Jagannatha comes forth in His entire magnificent splendor to enjoy the Ratha-yatra parade and show Himself to all. At our ashram, we had a graceful Ratha Yatra on July 6, 2016 . The Idols of Lord Sri Jagannatha, brother Balaramji & sister Subhadraji were adorned splendidly after ceremoniously worshipped by temple priest. Then the idols were mounted on the silver thrown in decorated chariot and brought out for the procession. It was a joyous occasion for all. Devotees were singing and dancing in the praise of the Lord. Devotees present on the occasion experienced the Divine Presence of the Lord. Lord Shree Jagannatha’s prasad Doothpak, maalpua, mug & Blackberry was served to all Guru Purnima Utsav (July 19, 2016) Guru Purnima was celebrated in great reverence and devotion at Shree Swami Chidananda Dhyan-yoga bhavan. The evening satsang began ( from 6.00pm -7.30pm) with recitation of Sri Jai Ganesh prayers, Sivananda Panchkam, Guru Strotras. Paduka pujan & Bhajan kirtan were offered to Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj & Guru Maharaj Shree Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. Devotee were blessed to receive Divine message of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji by phone, as Swamiji Maharaj is away from ashram on Centenary tour to the West. Smt. Rupa Majmudar shared her feelings towards Guru. About six hundred devotees were served mahaprasad. On July 28, 2016 evening satsang is planned on the occasion of 53 rd Mahasamadhi day of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Regular Ashram Activities At Ashram regular Yoga classes in seven batches for beginners and advanced yoga students carried out this month as usual.. Many devotees participated in regular religious worships at the Ashram namely Guru Paduka Pooja on Thursday, a special evening worship at Sri Ashtalaksmi Bhavan on Friday, Sri Sunderkand Path on Saturday, a special Satsang on Sunday and daily night satsangs. Also Sri Lalita Sahasranam at Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Satyanarayan pooja on full Moon day were performed. As always, on first Sunday Grain distributed to needy and on 3 rd of the month feeding to poor were done. Nutritious food was provided to children under Narayana seva project run by the Ashram. About 600 Kg grain was distributed to underprivileged families. Daily Satsang and pujas are performed regularly in the temples. Centenary Celebrations Tour 2016 (June 22, 2016 – July 31, 2016 to USA, Canada & UK) of H. H. Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Chidananda Centernary Celebration Tour 2016 of H.H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji has concluded on Aug 1, 2016. Devotees here in the West expressed their love, joy & gratitude in their own ways to be a part of this memorable event. The highlights of the tour is Centenary Celebrations of Brother Monks Gurumaharaj Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj and H. H. Sri Swami Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj at Chicago, Chinmaya Mission at Atlanta and Chinmaya Mission at Houston, Mandir Mahotsv at Bharatiya Temple, Troy (MI), Yoga Teachers Training at Kul-kamala Ashram, a story of a devotee’s offering of a Thepla (Indian roti) Thal and more….. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji released a booklet “Divinity – Chidananda Thy Name” commemorating the birth centenary of Pujya Swami Chidanandaji at Atlanta. Chidananda Sevashram brought out this booklet which displays the life and teachings of Swamiji in pictures and words. An impressive documentary was shown on the saintly personality of Pujya Swami Chidanandaji. Publications Newsletters Holy Shravan Month Celebration (Aug 3, 2016 – Aug 30, 2016) – Holy Shravana month was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion in the worship of Lord Shiva at Sri Vishvanath Mahadev temple here at the Ashram. During this month Rudrabhishek and special Pooja were performed. Devotees participated in Savalkshya Bilva patras Archna, Abhishekatmak Laghurudras performed at Holy Shrine on each Monday during the Shravan month. Sri Shiv Puran Katha by Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during Shravan Month, Daily 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sri Ashta Lakshmi-Adishakti Peeth was a special treat for devotees, they came from far & wide to listen to Shiv Mahima by Sri Swamiji Maharaj. On Aug 30, 2016 amavasya day, Shiv Puran Katha was concluded ceremoniously which was followed with next day Homatmak Laghurudra and Bhandara. About thousand devotees were served Mahaprasad. Krishna Jayanti Utsav (Aug 25, 2016): Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great devotion. Lord Sri Krishna’s Prakatya Ustav was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Sri Ashta Lakshmi Adi Shakti Peeth. Bhakti Sangeet by Dr. Sri Vasavda ji’s Gunjan group filled Ashram’s air with Divine vibrations just before Sri Lalaji’s pragtya at midnight. Devotees were dancing & chanting at the time of birth of Lord Sri Krishna. All the devotees had Darshan of Sri Lalaji in the decorated cradle. Honoring sincere request of program Executive of Door Darshan, Gujarati Television Center (Govt. of India, Ahmedabad), Sri SwamiJi Maharaj went to Dwarka for running commentary during Janmashtami utsav of Lord Sri Krishna at Dwarkadhish Temple, Dwarka. Independence day of India, Aug 15, 2016 was celebrated and Flag hoisting was done by Sri Swamiji Maharaj at the ashram in the morning. In the evening, honoring an invitation, Sri Swamiji attended social gathering at Gandhinagar held on the occasion of Independence Day. Honorable Mr. Kohliji, Governor of Gujarat and ResPected Sri Vijay Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat as well as Army, Air force, Naval, Police Chief of Gujarat all graced the occasion. Sri Chidananda Birth Centenary Celebrations commenced from Sept 24, 2015 with three days satsang programs and a ground breaking ceremony to commence construction of Swami Chidananda Centenary Memorial Yoga Bhawan by Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji in holy company of Mahatmas at Sivananda Ashram Ahmedabad. Since then, under the the guidance of H. H. The grand culmination of celebration was a absolute joy here at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. A spiritual presence of Gurumaharaj Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj was experienced by one and all – even the birds, squirrels and peacock rejoiced HIS presence and joined in the celebration at the Ashram. On the morning of Gurumaharaj’s Birthday Sept 24, 2016, a peacock danced in all its grace (got caught in video recording) in lawn garden of the Ashram and birds were singing glories of Gurumaharaj in their own tunes with the devotional bhajans & kirtans. Adding to that…… GuruMaharaj gave Darshan! What is not possible for Gurumaharaj ? a devotee (from USA) called and shared with Pujya Swamiji her darshan of GuruMaharaj in dream on Sept 24th morning. How wonderful ! it is all GURU KRUPA. Glories to Gurudev ! It was a week (Sept 17, 2016 – Sept 24, 2016) of spiritual feast for all. Governor of Gujarat, Mr. Om Prakash Kohli dedicated The “CHIDANANDAM’ by unveiling the curtain of Granite plaque engraved in golden letters in holy presence of Juna Peethadhishwar Sri Swami Avadheshanandaji Maharaj, Nirvan Peethadhishwar Srimat Swami Vishokanandaji Maharaj, Mahamandleshwar Sri Swami Vishwambhar Bhartiji, Mahamandleshwar Srimat Swami Kalyanananda Bhartiji, Srimat Swami Parmatmanandaji, Arch Bishop Mekwan. The new satsang Hall at Chidanandam was packed with devotees to its maximum capacity. All Saints and H.E. In fact, the celebration commenced with Ganapati Homam, Navgrahpuja & Gurupaduka pujan in newly constructed Chidananda Yoga Bhawan on Ganesh Chaturthi day and serving food to Daridranaraya in underprivileged area of the town on Sept 5, 2016. Gita JnanaYajana (from Sept 5, 2016 to Sept 16, 2016 ) by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji on Vyasasan sharing the words of wisdom on Chapter 9th of Bhagawad Gita “The Yoga of the Kingly Science & the Kingly Secret”, daily evening discourses from 5.30 pm to 7.00 pm . Pujya Swamiji selected this chapter as it was a great liking of Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. It was a great treat to listen to Pujya Swamiji, HE shared HIS own experiences with God and Gurudev. The Lord’s divine protection is assured to all those who take refuge in Him. The essential thing is to fix the mind on the Lord and dedicate everything unto Him—one’s body, mind, actions, emotion and will. On Sept 17, 2016 Sunerkand Parayan by Sri Gopalram Sharma group from Rajkot & Abu was organized. The holy chants and singing of Sunderkand in different raga filled the Ashram with Divine Breeze. Evening Satsang on Sunday Sept 18, 2016 was by learned scholars namely Sri P. K. Laheri (IAS), Sri. Bhagyesh Jha (IAS)& Sri Ajay Umat, editor of leading newspaper, “NaGujarat Samay” . On Monday Sept 19, 2016 devotees were blessed by holy presence & satsang of H. H. Sri Saheb Dada of Sri Anoopam Mission, Mogri. Sri Saheb Dada gave inspiring talk on the subject of “Guru-Bhakti Yoga” and importance of total surrender to Guru to receive the grace of GURU. Satsang began with devotional sangeet by Smt. Dipti Desai and her group. They charmed the listeners with their melodious sangeet. On Tuesday September 20, 2016 was a special day of Sri Nitin Mukesh, a Bollywood fame singing at the Ashram. We had mammoth crowd to enjoy his melodious voice, There were more than 5000 music lovers who enjoyed memorable songs of “Melodies of Mukesh”. On Wednesday Sept 21, 2016 Professor Jay Vasavda spoke on interesting topic of “Silence is also one discourse” and H. H. Sri Krishnamani Maharaj, President of Sri Krishna Pranami Mandir, Jamnagar shared his words of wisdom on the subject of “Without Krishna everything is fake” On Thursday Sept 22, 2016 : worship of Holy Paduka pujan of Gurudev Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj and Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj was performed in newly constructed “CHIDANANDAM”. At the evening satsang Jain Muni Sri Jinchandraji Maharaj from Tithal and Sri Devprasad Bapu from Ananda Bawa Ashram, Jamnagar thrilled the audience by sharing their words of wisdom on subject of “Forgiveness” and “Vedanta Vichar”. On Friday Sept 23, 2016 : Ashram was blessed by presence of holy men from all four corners of Gujarat. One hundred and twenty seven Sadhu were honored, served lunch and kind offerings in memory of GuruMaharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. Publications Newsletters News Through Event photos Deepavali Celebrations & Annakoot Darsahn ( October 17 , 2017 – October 20, 2017) : A grand Lakshmi Poojan was organized at Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhawan on the evening of Lakshmi Trayodashi (Dhanteras) on Oct 17, 2017. Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan was decorated with lighting, rangoli, pushpamala during Deepavali. A group Laxmi (Sri Yantra) Pujan was performed at Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan in holy presence of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and joined by priest Sri Kamlesh Jha of the ashram. On Diwali day grand Annkoot was offered to Maa Sri Ashtalakshmi. A few weeks of planning and preparations of about thousand varieties of food items by so many devotees culminated in Grand Annakoot offering to Sri Ashtalaxmi Maa on Deepavali day. A grand Annakoot food court was organized and dinner was served to the poor people at Sivananda Ashram. Entire day over thousands of people came to the ashram for the Annakoot Darshan and evening aarti on Deepavali and New Year day, as per Hindu calendar. Number of Saints and Acharya visited the ashram also. Number of TV channels and news papers highlighted the selfless services of Sivananda Ashrm. Srimad Bhagawat Saptah ( Oct 21, 2017 – Oct 27, 2017) : Srimad Bhagawat Katha commenced with devotees joined for “Pothi Yatra” carried Sri Bal Krishna in procession with traditional orchestra and dancing and singing in praise Sri Lallaji Maharaj. From the Vyasa Peeth, Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj graced the devotees, the nectar of Srimad Bhagawata for seven days. Pujya Swamiji gets absorbed in a different realm while narrating and singing the Glories of the Lord and make others experience the same. Dr. Naren Joshi, Mrs. Virbalaben Joshi and Sri Chidambaram Joshi were ardent devotee of Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Dr. Joshi served as a trustee of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh. All these three good souls departed in last ten years. In their loving memory, Bhagavat Katha was organized by daughters of Dr. Joshi; Smt. Kalpanaben Pandya, Smt. Shailjaben & Gayatriben. The Srimad Bhagavata Maha purana describes the various Avatara of Vishnu. It is the most important among the eighteen Puranas and it is in poetry form. There are ten Avataras of Vishnu. The aim of every Avatara is to save the world from some great danger, to destroy the wicked and protect the virtuous. The ten Avataras are: Matsya (The Fish), Kurma (The Tortoise), Varaha (The Boar), Narasimha (The Man-Lion), Vamana (The Dwarf), Parasurama (Rama with the axe, the destroyer of the Kshatriya race), Ramachandra (the hero of the Ramayana—the son of Dasaratha, who destroyed Ravana), Sri Krishna, the teacher of the Gita, Buddha (the prince-ascetic, founder of Buddhism), and Kalki (the hero riding on a white horse, who is to come at the end of the Kali-Yuga) (SIVA) Sivananda Institute of Vedanta -Yoga Academy : As always, daily five Yogasana practice Classes and Two Yogasana – Meditation classes for beginners conducted and about six hundred new people participated these Yoga classes this month. Food for children through Narayana Seva, monthly grain distribution to the needy families through Vishwanath Seva Kendra, Daily Satsang & Puja Archana in the temples was performed at Ashram. Sunday satsang, Purnima’s Sri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha and Sri Lalita Sahasranam Parayana are regular part of the Ashram’s activities. Satsang & Tours of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of September 2017 Ahmedabad (Oct 1, 2017): On October 1st, Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad organized get together of all Centurion blood donors and blood donation drive where thirty five people donated blood. They all were centurion blood donors and many of them were donating blood for 150th times or more. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj is also a Centurion Blood Donor. He is the only Monk, saffron centurion donor. H. E. Governor of Gujarat graced the occasion and he greeted all the donors by presenting a Red Rose. Gandhi Mitra Award Ceremony (Oct 1, 2017): Well known cafe of the town, “Vishala” organizes award presentation program every year. Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji has standing invitation. Also, H. E. Governor of Gujarat is invited for this function. “Gandhi Mitra” award is a prestigious award given to the people who, works selflessly in the service of poor, sick and down trodden in remote area, especially for education, nourishment, cleanliness and making their women folk self sufficient to survive independently by doing some craft work and so on. At Gandhi Ashram: On Oct 2, 2017 Birth Anniversary of Pujya Bapuji, Mahatma Gandhi ji, Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram organized all religion prayer meeting. Revered Sri Swamiji lead the prayer meeting by chanting Vedic hymns. The spiritual leaders from other religious organizations namely Muslim Community, Revered Arch Bishop of Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, father Joseph Macwan spiritual head from Sikh, Jain, Buddha, Baha’i and Parsi all attended the meet. Leading Gujarat News Paper daily “Nav Gujarat Samay” community organized award presentation program at Kocharab Gandhi Ashram. Revered Sri SwamiJi Maharaj presided over the function and number of learned scholars and leading film stalwarts from Mumbai were awarded by Swamiji Maharaj. Program was conducted by Sri Ajay Umat, Principal Editor of the news paper. 25th AMA (Ahmedabad Management Association) week : Ahmedabad Management Association organized a week long program from Oct 3, 2017 to Oct 7, 2017. The theme of the talk this week was “How to live life of your dream ?” Revered Sri Sadhu Brahmavihari Das of BAPS, Brahma kumari Sister Shivani, Management guru Mr. G. Narayan, Revered Swami Anubhavananadaji and Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji were the speakers for this Silver Jubilee of Management Week of AMA. Inspiring talks by all were well received by audience. Sri Mukeshbhai Patel conducted ceremony in his usual witty style. The culmination was the last day discourse “Energize with Fuel of Motivation” by Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and it was concluded with spectacular Yogasana demonstration by Yoga teachers group of Sivananda Ashram.
