Publications Newsletters News Through Event Photos The month of September commenced with the sacred Lord Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at the Ashram on Sept 2, 2019. The festival celebrates Lord Ganesha as the God of New Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles. Lord Ganesh is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. On Sept 2 & Sept 3, 2019 Late Pandit Krishnant memorial classical music recital program was organized by his sons Parikh Trio, this year also at Sivananda Ashram. Respected Manju Mehta, Shri Ronu Majmudar and Pandit Hariharanji presented Sitar, Flute and Indian classical vocal recital. The entire program was attended by a very large music-loving audience. On Sept 8, 2019, 132nd Birth Anniversary of Gurubhagwan Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj was celebrated with grand Paduka Poojan, Satsang and Narayana Seva (Poor feeding). After the morning prayer and meditation holy Paduka Poojan was organized at Shri Swami Chidananda Yoga Meditation Hall, which was followed by Sanskrit Shloka recital competition for children. Group A was for children from 3 years to 8 years of age and group B was from 9 to 15 years. A total of 96 children participated for which six learned scholar judges attended the program. All participants were awarded certificates and Sivananda literature. Along with them. their parents also were served food prasad. First, second & third winners of both groups were awarded a special prize. The entire program was planned and conducted by Dr. Chirag Pandya. Worshipful and Revered H. H. Shri Swami Kamlanandaji Maharaj and H. H. Shri Swami Narayananandaji Maharaj graced the occasion and awarded prize and certificates to participants and honored to a respected panel of judges also. Narayan Sewa – poor feeding followed in the evening. On Sept 24, 2019, Happy Birth Anniversary of Most Worshipful and Revered Gurudev Srimat Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm with Paduka Poojan and remembrance of GuruMahraj. Narayan Seva, Poor feeding also was organized. Navaratri Festival or Devi worship (Sept 29, 2019 – Oct 7, 2019): The month of October began with a spirit of the Navaratri festival. Ten days of Devi worship commenced on Sept 29, 2019. Devotees joined in a group chanting of Bhagavad Gita all eighteen chapter in the forenoon from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Sri Durga Saptasati recitation in the afternoon and Garba at night in Sri Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan. Dr. Jayant Vasavada organized all 9 days singing with his Shri Hatkesh Swar Gunjan group. In spite of heavy rains during Navaratri, a large number of devotees attended this wonderful program. Temple priest Shri Kamlesh Maharaj conducted both recitations. The ashram is preparing for Deepavali celebrations, a Group Dhateras Pujan and for a Grand Annakoot offering on Deepavali day. Satsang & Tour of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj During the Month of September 2019 Somnath (Sept 1, 2019 – Sept 8, 2019): Somnath Trust invited Revered Shri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj for Shri Shiv-Puran Katha which commenced on Aug 31, 2019, and continued up to Sept 8, 2019. During Katha a number of stories enacted by professional artist groups from Bhopal. In spite of heavy and pouring rains katha was attended by a large number of devotees from all over Gujarat, Mumbai and also Delhi. Managing trustee and secretary of Shree Somnath trust welcomed Revered Swamiji and all devotees for this wonderful and auspicious occasion of Shiv-Puran Katha at Somnath, which is one of the Jyotir Lingam among the twelve Jyotir Lingams. With kind permission of Somnath trust and security Department, all devotees recited Shri Shiv Mahima Stotra with orchestra, just inside the temple, in front of the deity “Itself”. Katha concluded with very pious tone of, “Now we shall abide in HIM – SOMNATH only”. Adhyatma Tour 2019 : On Sept 9, 2019 evening Pujya Shri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj departed for his USA, Canada and UK tour. Chicago, IL : (Sept 10, 2019 – Sept 14, 2019): Gurudev Shri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj’s ardent devotees at Chicago Respected Dr. Minal and Dr. Bharat Naik organized Revered Shri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj’s Chicago area program from Sept 10, 2019 to Sept 14, 2019 Each morning -day commenced with yoga classes at Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago (HTGC). Rev. Shri Swamiji’s discourses were organized at Bharatiya temple of NW Indiana, Gayatri Pariwar, Study Group, Satsang Group, Universal spirit yoga studio, Shri Arbindo Devotee group and at Jalaram Mandir. During all satsang places, Rev. Swamiji spoke on different subjects like yoga, meditation, pranayama, stress management through yoga, the glory of Gayatri Mantra, Love and Devotion for the Peace, Sri Vishnu Sahastranam, Awakening the SELF and bhakti-yoga. Madison, WI (Sept 15, 2019): Smt. Manjesh and Shri Jagdish Agrawal invited Rev. Shri Swamiji Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj to grace and to bless their activity of Mandir of Madison at Wisconsin. Revered Shri Swamiji was received by temple priest with traditional Purna Kumbha and ‘Shesha Vistram’. A wonderful Archana Pooja and Arati were organized which followed by Prasad. Devotees from Chicago, Minnesota, and Milwaukee also participated in the function. Milwaukee, WI (Sept 15, 2019): Sri Hari is a member of the board of directors of Sri Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sangh (USA), Smt. Aparna and Sri Hari are very pious couple and sincere devotee of the Lord. Revered Shri Swamiji blessed them and had home Satsang in the evening. Reading, PA ( Sept 16, 2019- Sept 18, 2019): Dr. Sharon (Sudha ji ) Allit is a founder president/director of Kulkamal Yoga at Readings, PA. At the same time, she is an ardent devotee of Revered Shri Swamiji Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Upon her very sincere and generous invitation, Shri Swamiji arrived at Readings. On Sept 16, 2019, satsang Revered Swamiji spoke on the subject of “Hanuman: An Exemplary Devotion “. Listening to Pujya Swamiji on the glory of Lord Hanuman was truly enlightening for all. The Satsang on Sept 17, 2019, was on the subject of “Inquire Who Am I”. During his stay, Shri Swamiji Maharaj was invited by Albright College of Readings, PA. Daily worship services at Lord Vishvanath Temple and at Sri Sri Maa Ashtalakshmi Bhavan create Divine vibrations at the Ashram. Prayers & Meditation at Sri Chidananda Dhyan Mandir bring peace & joy to countless Sadhakas. Daily Evening Satsang (9 pm – 9.45pm), Sunday satsang (8.30 am -10.00 am) and ‘Paduka Pujan’ on Thursday, Satyanarayan Puja on Purnima day, Gayatri Yajana on first Sunday, Lalita Shashra Nama & Yoga activities: all these have made Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad a pilgrimage place (Yatra Dham). Navaratri Festival or Devi worship (Sept 29, 2019 – Oct 7, 2019): Navaratri festival is a spiritual feast for the devotees at the Ashram. Ten days of Devi worship commenced on Sept 29, 2019. About 300 devotees joined in a group chanting of Bhagavad Gita all eighteen chapter in the forenoon from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and Sri Durga Saptasati parayan in the afternoon from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm followed by grand “Sitting Garba” at night in from 8.30pm to 10.30 pm at Sri Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan lead by Sri Jayantbhai Vasavada, at Sri Kutch Saurasthra Vadnagar Nagar Mandal, Ahmedabad, Jay Hatkesh Nagar parivar, Swar Gunjan Hatkesh Group and artists of Sivananda Ashram. Devotees in good numbers participated and took benefit of this grand “Sitting Garba worship”. Healthy prasad was served on all the eight days and traditional Jalebi/ fafda was served on the ninth day. On Oct 6, 2019, “Ashtami day” Kanya Pujan was performed of 121 girls & boys of 3 to 8 years old and prasad was served & gifts for them were arranged. Nine days worship culminated on Oct 8, 2019 on Dassera day with “Vidya Arambha” ceremony, puja and prasad. Deepavali Festival” (Oct 25, 2019 – Oct 28, 2019): We had joyous Deepavali Celebrations and Annakoot darshan at the Ashram. Deepavali is a special time, it brings such joy & festive spirit to all. Here at the Ashram, a grand group Lakshmi Poojan was organized at Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhawan on the evening of Lakshmi Trayodashi (Dhanteras) on Oct 25, 2019. Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan was decorated with lighting, rangoli, pushpamala during Deepavali and group Laxmi (Sri Yantra) Pujan was performed by 108 couples at Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan. On Diwali day grand Annkoot was offered to Maa Ashtalakshmi. A few weeks of planning and preparations of about thousand varieties of food items by so many devotees culminated in Grand Annakoot offering to Sri Ashtalaxmi Maa on Deepavali day. Entire day over thousands of people came to the ashram for the Annakoot Darshan and evening aarti. At night about 1600 devotees were serve dinner and about thousand prasad packages of sweets, snacks, chocolates & other goodies were made to be distributed to under served families in slum area of the town, the next morning. On Oct 28, 2019 the New Year day (as per Indian calendar) a continuous flow of devotees for the darshan & receiving blessings of Sri Maa Ashta Laxmi from morning till night. On Oct 28, 2019 Pujya Swamiji left for the Haridwar for Bhagawat Saptah to commence on Oct 31, 2019 and will conclude on Nov 6, 2019. The Bhagawat Saptah at Rishikesh is a part of Amrut Mahotsav 75th birth anniversary of Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, Pujya Swamiji will be on the Vyaspeeth. Devotees from the Ashram and all over India and abroad are attending this sacred occasion. Satsang & Tour of H. H. Swamiji is back to the Ashram on Oct 23, 2019. Atlanta, GA: Atlanta community joined in large number in the celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150 th birth anniversary, Gandhi Jayanti hosted by the Gandhi Foundation of USA (GFUSA) and Indian Consulate, Southeast in Atlanta that was held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. 150 th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated in three parts. One in the morning at consulate, the second at The Gandhi statue located in Dr. Martin Luther King jr., Historical site in down town, Atlanta and the commemoration celebration of Gandhi at Knowles Conference Center, College of law, Georgia state University. Publications Newsletters News Through Event Photos Bhagavat Katha at Rishikesh (October 31, 2019, to – Nov 6, 2019): How fortunate and blessed are those who could attend Srimad Bhagawat Katha by His Holiness Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj adorning on Vyasasan! It was indeed a grand and memorable event for one and all. This was attended by more than 700 devotees from all over India, as well as from Taiwan and the USA. It was organized as a part of Platinum Jubilee 75 th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of H.H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj at Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh. Pujya Swamiji discourses on Bhagavat Kathamrut was enlightening, Krishna Janmotsav, Krishna Lilla, Goverdhan Puja, Rukhmini Vivah, the teachings given by Lord Krishna to Uddhava on the eve of His departure, the Soul-stirring Kirtan … all were a Divine experience for all. Mahamandleshwar Sri Swami Ashanganandaji Maharaj of Parmarthniketan blessed the devotees with HIS holy Presence. Pujya Swami Chidananda Sarswati (Muniji) and Pujya Sadhviji blessed the ocassion. Jnan Yajana – Prasthan Trayee Parayan ( Nov 24, 2019, to Dec 6, 2019): The Prasthan Trayee Parayan was organized as a part of Amrut Mahotsav Celebration of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. A grand starting session of Prasthan Trayee Parayan on Nov 24, 2019, was in the holy presence of Paramadrsh Vedanta Peethathiswar Sri Swami Bhaskarananda Saraswati Ji at Chidananda Dhyan Mandir, Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj gave an inaugural speech and enlightened all. About more than fifty Saints, Mahatmas, Mahamandleshwers, and Bhramcharis as well devotees attended this sacred JanaYajana. Pujya Sri Swami Sarvananda Giriji was the Pramukh Acharya and had led the entire Jana Yajana. It was full twelve hours of daily program schedule that included recitation of Brahma Sutras, Ten Principal Upanishad namely; Isha, Kena, and Katha, Prashan, Mundaka, Mandukya, Tattiriya, Aitareya, Chhandogya and Brihadaranyaka, Bhagavat Gita and Sri Vishnu Sahsranama and two hours of discourses on “MANDUKYA UPANISHAD” and Mandukya Karikas by learned scholars from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. It was a spiritual feast for the devotees to listen to great MANDUKYA UPANISHAD and its explanatory treatise Mandukya Karika by Acharya Gaudapada. The Mandukya Upanishad mantras provide us with the staple food for our intellect by enunciating the Truth while the Karika graphically reveals to us a line of inquiry and thinking with logic and reason to find out that Truth. The statement “Brahma Satyam Jagat mithya – Brahman is the only reality and all the others are mithya or illusory, an unending dream” puts in a nutshell the entire non- dualistic philosophy of Adi Sankara and his teacher’s teacher Gaudapada. But any person even with a minimum intelligence is bound to argue how this everlasting universe perceived by him and others like him day in and day out in the waking state be a dream? The response to this question is very meticulously investigated and expounded in the great MANDUKYA UPANISHAD and its explanatory treatise Mandukya Karika by Acharya Gaudapada. The Jnana Yajana of Prasthan Trayee Parayan was organized as a part of Amrut Mahotsav Celebration of Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. The 12/13 days Parayan was concluded on December 6, 2019. On Nov 30, 2019: Kalaratna Dr. K.V. Satyanarayana Ji from Andhra Pradesh (South India) presented Kuchipudi Dance Ballet at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad which received Grand applause and attended by large audience. Satsang & Tour of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the Month of November 2019 Haridwar: (Nov 6, 2019): After concluding of Holy Bhagavat Katha Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj arrived at Bharat Heavy Electricity Ltd (BHEL). Sri Swamiji is a regular visitor to this unit of Government of India, Haridwar. The Management Association organized Revered Swamiji Satsang discourse on the subject of “Key to Stress Management is the Self Management”. This was attended by high profile executives of the BHELgroup. From Nov 6, 2019, to Nov 8, 2019, Sri Swamiji’s Satsang were at Vedanta Sammelan of Sri Parmananda Bhandar, Kankhal-Haridwar. Also Sri Swamiji’s Satsang was organized by the branch of the Divine Life Society, BHEL, Haridwar at Sri Sanatan Dharma Mandir, Shivalik Nagar. Sri Swamiji is a regular visitor to this wonderful community of Shivalik Nagar since 1978. Ambala (Nov 9, 2019): Honoring humble and generous invitation of Respected Dr. Sharmaji of the Divine Life Society, Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj paid the visit to Ambala, as Dr. Sharmaji is a veteran member of the DLS and initiated disciple of Holy Master Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Revered Swamiji had visited his ailing wife and had blessed her for excellent health and long life. Ludhiana (Nov 9, 2019): Late afternoon Sri Swamiji arrived at Ludhiana. His Satsang was organized at the famous “Rakh Baug” was attended by many devotees. Sri Swamiji Maharaj has been regularly visiting this place since 1976. Chandigarh (Nov 12, 2019): At dusk Sri Swamiji arrived at Chandigarh. Members of Divine Life Society, Chandigarh organized Swamiji’s Satsang at Smt. Sudesh and Sri. Mulakh Raj’s bungalow. Satsang was followed by Dinner served to all. Gandhinagar (Nov 13, 2019): At Rishikesh Bhagavat Katha, Sri Prahlad Modi the younger brother to Sri Narendra Modi Ji (Prime Minister of India) attended the entire session of Katha. His wish for Revered Swamiji bless his Mother Hira Baa who is 99 years. It was such a lovely Satsang with loving, pure and bright mother of the great son of India. On the way back to Ahmedabad entire group visited Sri Dholeshwar Mahadev and had Satsang with Revered Sri Swami RamSwaroopanandaji Maharaj of Niranjani Akhada.

Sri Swami Parmeshwaranandaji Maharaj ( who is 96 years old ) from Sadhana Sadan, Haridwar, and H. H. .Sri Swami Viditatmanandaji Maharaj of Tatva Tirth, Ahmedabad. The Trustees of Sivananda Ashram with Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj gave special honor to H. H. Sri Swami Viditatmanandaji Maharaj to mark and celebrate his 80 years festivity. Gita Jayanti ( Dec 7, 2019): A special satsang was held on Gita Jayanti day. The recitation of entire eighteen chapters of Sri Bhagawad Gita was organized. 44 th Yoga Teachers Training Course ( YTTC ) Dec 10, 2019 to Dec 30, 2019): Twenty days residential YTTC commenced on Dec 10, 2019 evening. Students from India and USA participated. Altogether, 220 hours education was imparted during the course that included Yogasana, Pranayam, Meditation, Kriya, Mudra, Bandha, Art of relaxation, Gita, Patanjali Yoga Sutras and basic knowledge of Anatomy, Gynecology, Orthopedic, Satvic diet, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Philosophy and Psychology of Yoga and Science of Natural healing Reiki during the course. H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj leads the program together with Dr. Ashok Nirwan, Dr. Varsha Dave, Dr. Amish Kshatriya, Dr. Bhavdeep Ganatra,, Dr. Mihir Upadhyay, Sanskrit scholar, Mrs. Chidrupini (Dietician ), Ms. Sangeeta Thawani, Mrs. Rupa Majmudar (Reiki Grand Master ), Ms.Sonal, Ms.Sheela Darbar, Mr.Vikram Mistry, Mr. Mukesh Bagria and Mrs. Kinjal Parekh (all Yoga experts) conducted the course. And certificates, recognized by Gujarat university were awarded to the participants, who successfully passed the written, oral and practical tests. Yoga Teachers Training Course was concluded on Dec 30, 2019 with the great satisfaction of learning and sharing the knowledge of the Yore. Christmas Eve Satsang ( Dec 24, 2019): On the eve of the Christmas, Satsang was organized at Smt. Rupa Majmudars house. She is the editor of Gujarati Spiritual Journal “Divya Jivan”. Also, Group recitation of Sunderkand, Gayatri Yajna on First Sunday, Purnima’s Sri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha and Sri Lalita Sahasranam Parayana are a regular part of the Ashram’s activities. A group of doctors from Dept. of Burns and Plastic Surgery, B. J. Medical College and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad came to Sivananda Ashram to spread awareness about this problem. Advanced Yoga Teachers Training Course (Feb 11, 2020, to March 4, 2020): Respected Yogi James Lo, President of Yoga and Sports Federation of Taiwan and founder President of Sivananda Yoga Studio, Taipei, Taiwan visited the ashram with 13 of his Yoga students. They came for Advanced Yoga Teachers Training Course affiliated with Gujarat University. This capsule course is of 20 days and 220 hrs. Upon their request, ashram organized the presence of Yoga Teacher Yogi Sri Sunil from the BKS Iyengar’ group. Other than Yogasan, they learned pranayama, Kriyas, Mudras, Bandhas, Tratak, Yoga Nidra and Shankh Prakshalan Kriya. They also learned Anatomy from Dr. Ashok Nirwan, Sanskrit from Scholar Dr. Mihir Upadhyay, Ayurveda from Vaidya Bhavdeep Ganatra, Reiki ( Science of Natural Healing ) from Reiki Grand Master Mrs. Rupa Majmudar and Yoga Philosophy and Psychology from Ms.Sangeeta Thawani. Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj shared the knowledge of Bhagwad Geeta and Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Maha Shankh Prakshalan with Kunjal and Neti Kriya was conducted on Sunday, Feb 23, 2020. Revered Swamiji conducted a special class of Yoga Nidra and Tratak Kriya. The course will continue till on March 4, 2020. 5th Free Acupressure Treatment and training camp (Feb 15, 2020 – Feb 21, 2020): It was organized at Sivananda Ashram with the courtesy of Sri Jay Bhagwan Trust of Mumbai. Sri Guruji and eight disciples camped in Ashram and with the help of other local disciples of Sri Guruji conducted the camp. The camp was inaugurated by Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj and concluded by Sri Swami Kamalanandaji Maharaj of Sivananda Ashram. 1372 patients received free treatment and 132 people were trained for this very useful selfless service. On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, regular free treatment is given at the ashram and a large number of ailing people are treated for various physical problems. Sri Pancholi Mama of the ashram coordinated the entire program. Shivaratri Utsav at Ashram (Feb 21, 2020): Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad celebrated sacred Shivratri utsav with great enthusiasm and devotion. Vedik Hymns and chants of “OM Namah Shivaya” filled the air with Divine vibrations. Holy Shri Vishwanath Temple was agog with worship of Lord Shiva. Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj offered a first pooja & Abhishek at 3.45 am. It started with Shodshopachar Pujan at 3.45 am and continued until the next day 4.00 am at the Temple. Continuous flow of devotees came to the Lord Vishvanath Temple to pray and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva – who is considered Ashutosh. The Siva Lingam was worshipped by washing it with milk, curd, honey and rose water as the chants of Vedic Hymns, Namakam, Chamakam, Rudram, Ashtadhyaayi Rudra, Purushasuktam in praise of Lord Shiva. Shiva Lingam was adorned with special Shringar, Bilva leaves. Bilva leaves are believed to be very sacred and considered the best offering to Lord Shiva. In the evening, Devotees in large numbers sat in front of the temple in grandly decorated Pandal. Bhakti Sangeet (Devotional Songs) in praise of the Lord started by outstanding singers namely Smt. Dr. Monica Shah with her 80 students of Aradhana School from 5 pm to 7 pm and Dr. Vasavda with his Hatkesh Swar Gunjan group up to 10 pm, that followed Pandit Sri Nirajchandra Parikh and Ami Devi’s singing that brought a special fervor to already charged atmosphere. Holy Mrutyunjay Mantra chanting was continued for four hours from midnight 12 am till 4.00 am. Thanks to Smt. Mayurika Oza, Smt. Rupa and Sri Manish Majmudar coordinated this seva. At 4.00 am there was a grand Arati and Prasad was distributed by Sri Swami Narayananandaji. At midday of Feb 22, 2020 over 500 devotees took Maha Prasad breaking their Shivaratri fast. Pilgrimage to Tirupathi Balaji (Feb 24, 2020 – Feb 25, 2020): As a part Pujya Swamiji’s Amrut Mahotsav celebration a few devotees of the ashram went for pilgrimage to Sri Sri Sri Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Darshan on Feb 25, 2020 at early dawn. They feel blessed to have a wonderful darshan of the LORD. At Tirupati Airport, a very warm welcome was accorded to Revered Sri Swamiji and his entire team. Also, warm reception to Tirupati town, Media’s interview at the Tirumala mountains, accommodation, Darshan of the Lord Sri Tirupathi Balaji, prasad and more……everything was great with Divine Grace. This entire tour was organized by Respected Prahlad Modi, younger brother of Sri Narendra Modi, P. M. of India. The entire Devotee group returned back to the ashram in the late evening on Feb 25, 2020. Satsang & Tour of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj During the Month of February 2020 Uvarsad, Ahmedavbad (Feb 1, 2020): Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was offered graciously the membership for the Board of the Directors of famous J. On February 1, 2020, Swamiji was invited as a Chief Guest of their annual function at the university. Revered Swamiji inspired the youth with his words of wisdom on his inaugural speech. Publications Newsletters Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad announces…….At this unprecedented time of Global Crisis due to Corona Virus Pandemic, all the regular Yoga & spiritual activities are canceled at the Ashram until further notice. Also, the planned upcoming Satsang programs, Yoga camp and scheduled Mangal Utsav celebrations from April 13, 2020, to May 31, 2020, all are canceled. Ashram has started relief efforts in the distribution of food packages to the needy in the underprivileged area of the town and joined in helping hands, whatever best possible under the circumstances. Each food package contains Pou-roti, a pouch of Milk, two bananas, cooking spices, potatoes, onions , grains & oil pouch, etc… In a time like this people go through emotional stress, panic, sadness…….Feel free to call ashram If, you wish to receive Pujya Swamiji’s blessings & support. Also, Ashram’s priest will provide worship services on request & perform a special Pooja on your behalf. Once again, please note, All yoga classes at the Ashram are closed. Chaitra Navratra Retreat & Parayan (group recitation) of Sri Ramcharit Manas at Sri Sri Ashtalaxmi Bhavan has been canceled. Sri Ramnavami Utsav, Sri Hanuman Jayanti (Maruti Yajana) are canceled. Ashram’s Priest performs daily worship at all the shrines but all the temples are closed for casual visitors. It is all the Grace ! Advanced Yoga Teachers Training Course (YTTC) from Feb 11, 2020 to March 4, 2020: Respected Yogi James Lo, President of Yoga and Sports Federation of Taiwan and founder President of Sivananda Yoga Studio, Taipei, Taiwan visited the ashram with thirteen of his Yoga students. They came for Advanced YTTC affiliated with Gujarat University. This capsule course was of 20 days covering 220 hrs. Upon their request, ashram organized the presence of Yoga Teacher Yogi Sri Sunil from the BKS Iyengar Yoga foundation. The Advanced YTTC was successfully completed on March 4, 2020. Their award ceremony was coordinated on March 1, 2020 at Achala Education Foundation. The group departed for their scheduled short Bharat Darshan Tour. On March 1, 2020 Achala Education Foundation organized an annual award-giving function. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj graced the function with other dignitaries Sri P. K. Laheriji and famous writer Sri Devendra Patel, Dr. Mafatbhai Patel, Smt. Anar Patel, Sri Sanjay Patel, and others. Best five teachers of the year in Gujarat and best ten books for education in Gujarati writers were awarded by the worthy hands of Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj. Two young Pandits from Gurukul, Shatavadhani and experts in 64 arts were given special honor by Sri Swamiji Maharaj. In his speech on this occasion Pujya Swamiji emphasized the need for Value-based ethical education instead of business-oriented education. “Without ethical teaching, present youth will go astray and a number of unwanted episodes take place in the society – Nation too”, He said. Pilgrimage to Sri Sri Vaishnvo Devi- Katra – Siddhabari – Dharamsaha (March 5, 2020 – March 9, 2020): Pujya Swamiji and a group of devotees had Pilgrimage to Sri Vaishnvo Devi. Respected Sri Surendraji Vasudeva and his family from Yamuna Nagar and Revered Swamini Shraddhananda from Kula Kamala Yoga Foundation, PA (USA) joined the group also. On March 6, 2020 weather was not in the favor. Only one trip of six persons was taken to the upper hill by helicopter with Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji’s group. The rest of the people went on foot, climbing up to “Mata ka Darbar”. Some of them went by pony ride and other means. It was great satisfaction of having Darshan of Maa Vaishno Devi for all. From Katra, the entire group traveled to Sri Chinmaya Tapovanam at Siddhabari by bus. On the way, they had darshan of Chamunda Mata, Chichi Mata, Kangadaji, Vajreshwari Devi and finally Jwala Devi. Whether God was very much in the favor and darshan was possible at every Shrine. Pujya Swamiji Maharaj was in ecstasy mood after the darshan of Maa, He played drum (nagara) and got devotees in the mood of Garba, singing the glory of Maa Durga. At night, the group arrived at Chinmaya Tapovanam, Siddhabari Ashram. Here, there was heavy rain and snowfall. But the next morning was a beautiful Sunrise and it was a treat for all to see peaks of the snow covered mountains shining in the Sunrise. After paying homage and silent meditation at holy Samadhi Shrine of Most Worshipful & Revered. His Holiness Sri Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj and darshan at Sri Ram Mandir, Hanuman Shrine at the Ashram, they all had a visit to Sri Dharamshala, the holy abode of H. H. Dalai Lamaji. Because of the Corona virus outbreak, He was in isolation hence group had darshan of temples and Satsang with other Senior Lamas. At night Satsang, Revered Swamiji shared the memory of his visit to Siddhabari when Brahmleen Sri Swami Chinmayanandaji Maharaj attained Mahasamadhi / BHU Samadhi. Sri Swamiji cherished his first darshan of Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj on Sept 8, 1965 at Sivananda Ashram, Rishikesh when Swamiji arrived from Uttar-Kashi and on his way visited Sivananda Ashram

All the worship services at all the Ashram Shrines are performed by the Ashram priest daily and on special occasions. Ashram Parivar (inmates) are engaged in regular Ashram activities, night Satsang, Covid-19 relief efforts, providing food to Doctors & health care workers, who have come from out of town and serving the sick on daily bases under the guidance of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Chaitra Navaratri (April 1, 2020): April 1 st was Ashtami, the eighth day of holy Navaratri of Chaitra Shukla Paksha, special worship was offered to Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan of Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Sri Durgasaptasati Parayan is regular worship at the Temple. Sri Ramnavami Worship (April 2, 2020): Sri Ramcharit Manas’s Nawahna Parayan was concluded early morning. In the forenoon of Sri Ram Navami (Happy Incarnation day of Sri Lord Ram) was celebrated with special worship and holy Yajana (Homam), fire worship at Sri Ram Temple of the Ashram. Temple priest with Sri Swami Narayananandaji Maharaj of Sivananda order and inmate of Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad, lead the Homam. After special Poojan, Archana & Arati, Prasad was distributed to Ashram Parivar during the lunch hours. with all precautions of social distance/isolation maintained at the ashram. On April 8, 2020 Sri Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated at Sri Ram Hanuman temple of the Ashram. Special worship and Archana offered, which followed Sri Maruti Yajana and prasad was distributed during lunch. On April 13, 2020, happened to be 75 th Birth anniversary day of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, as per Hindu calendar, the sixth day of half-dark of Chaitra (Chaitra Krushna Shasti). Pujya Swamiji offered special worship at Sri Vishwanath Temple in the morning from 5 am to 6.30 am and at Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhawan from 7 am to 8.30 am, which followed Aayushya Homam up to 10.45 am by Pujya Swamiji and Ashram Priest only. No other ashram inmates could join because of COVID -19 restriction. Pujya Sri Swamiji Maharaj very generously gave charity to Swamijis, Sevaks of the ashram and Leprosy Colony in Banars Kantha district, where about 1300 inmates are staying, including mentally retarded children. A special mid-day meal was served to Ashram’s Parivar. On April 25, 2020, happened to be 98 th Birth anniversary of Brahmleen H. H. Sri Swami Krishnanandaji Maharaj. He served as an Acharya & General Secretary of the H. Q. of the Divine Life Society. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj spoke about his reminiscence with His Holiness Swami Krishnanandaji Maharaj during the night Satsang with Ashram Parivar. On April 26, 2020, a special worship was organized being Akshya Trutiya sacred day as per Hindu calendar in the month of Vaishakh. On April 29, 2020, Sri Brahmotsav of Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Adishakti Peeth was celebrated with all traditional rituals and Navchandi Homam. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj performed Maha Aarti and Poojas of Sri Yantra at the holy altar of lotus Sri Yantra seat. Because of lockdown and curfew, devotees could not join at the ashram and Bhandara was not organized, also. On April 30, 2020, Holy Ganga Saptami believed to be descending of river Ganges on the earth planet, was ceremoniously celebrated at Ashram’s holy Sri Vishwanath Temple. Special Note Ashram has started relief efforts in the distribution of food packages to about 3100 needy families in the underprivileged area of the town. It can serve them about 10 days of groceries. Also, each food package contains Pou-roti, a pouch of Milk, bananas, cooking spices, potatoes, onions, grains & oil pouch, etc…These services to the needy will continue, as long as it is essential. Upon the request of Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad city, group of Doctors & Paramedical staff, who came from out of town and serving the sick patients the people, the ashram has provided lodging & boarding with great love and sincere feeling of service to the Nation. All Yoga classes, as well as Reiki Classes, remain closed during the month. Yoga teacher, Ms. Sangeeta Thawani conducted online yoga classes. Also, the planned upcoming Satsang programs, Yoga camp, and scheduled Mangal Utsav celebrations of H. H. Corona Relief efforts & Services through ashram: As we are passing through Corona epidemic, ashram extended free lodging and boarding for the Medical team, who came to serve COVID patients from different districts of Gujarat for about two & half month from March 15, 2020 to May 25, 2020. Ashram received altogether 70 Doctors. Ashram’s management was happy to serve them as they were front liners warriors taking care of COVID patients. Three hundred and eighty families in slum area were benefited by this humble service in the name of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. Food packages of Rice, Pearls (Tuver Dal) and Potatoes were distributed which will serve about fortnight per family. On June 11, 2020 Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj with Ashram team planted about 125 big trees and 400 small flowering plants in the ashram campus. During diamond jubilee celebration of Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj planted 250 Tulsi plants, 75 Drumsticks and 25 Blackberry plants. They all have blossomed and are giving plenty of fruits throughout the year. Dur Darshan Girnar (DD Girnar), Amdavadtak, and other local organizations invited Sri Swamiji…… Sri Swamiji conducted Yoga & Pranayam sessions, Guided Meditation, talked about Yoga in daily Life, Health and Happiness through Yogic Lifestyle, Yoga to boost up the Immunity, and more…..Countless people from all walks of life, Young & Old, Yoga lovers & Yoga beginners all attended Yoga at Home & Yoga with family through TV media and got benefited. On June 20, 2020, for the International Yoga day celebration, Door Darshan, Television center of Government of Gujarat (D.D. Girnar, Gujarat) invited Revered Swami Maharaj for a live telecasted interview. The subject was “Yoga in Daily Life”. Face book Ahmedavadtak telecasted live yoga class for the beginners & advanced practitioners in daily routine. This live telecast was conducted on June 20, 2020 & June 21, 2020 and was attended by 5.5K people at large from all walks of life. Sri Mukesh Choudhary, Sri Vikram Mistry, Sri Kinnar Parekh, Sri Sunil Patel & Yogi Pavan demonstrated the Yoga postures. Renowned medical unit “SWASTHYA” of Dr. Mayur Patel (Diabetologist) was inaugurated by H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj on June 20, 2011. It was 10th Anniversary on June 20, 2020, of this medical unit. Dr. Mayur with his family and members of “Swasthya” center visited Sivananda Ashram and one hour long live interview was telecasted on the Face book page of Swasthya, which was attended by 3000 sincere well-wishers of “Swasthya” Medical center. On June 21, 2020, other than morning live yoga class, famous Udgam School telecasted Guided Meditation session by Revered Sri Swamiji Maharaj for their school kids and parents. It was about half an hour session, well received by about 5000 viewers The evening of 6 th International Yoga Day was celebrated by the Indian Yoga Association, Gujarat, Ahmedabad chapter, where Sri Swami Maharaj’s pre-recorded talk was telecasted on the subject of “Health and Happiness Through Yogic Lifestyle”. Famous yogi Sri Bhander, Smt. Hamsa Jaydev (Mumbai), Sri Subodha Tiwari (Lonavala) & Dr. Ananda Balyogi Bhavnani (Poona) also graced the occasion. This program was sponsored by Gujarat Tourism (Govt. of Gujarat). Rath Yatra Celebrations (June 23, 2020 ): Because of COVID -19 Pandemic restriction Rath Yatra, a Chariot Festival was not celebrated in the usual festive way in Ahmedabad at large. And so did we at the Sivananda Ashram, not announced the festivity which is normally every year attended by 600 to 700 devotees. But all the worship including Sri Vishnu Sahasranam Parayan, Archana, Aarti & prasad to the Lord was offered. And lastly, without a big crowed of Devotees or pomp & show, God came out of the temple and had a car ride silently in the nearby area of the town on that day. As always a traditional prasad dish containing Dudhapak, Malpuwa, Blackberries (Jamun) grown in the ashram garden, and sprouted green lentils were prepared & offered to the Lord and distributed to the devotees. Honoring the humble request of one of the Divine Life Society branchs, on their Thursday satsang on June 11, 2020 & June 25, 2020, Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj gave discourse on the subjects of “How to Practice Sadhana” and “Glory of our Gurudev” organized online which was attended by a large number of devotees.
