Publications Newsletters Sivananda Ashram has been awarded a “Silver Star achiever blood donation institution” by Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad. Honor goes to H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj who is the Back Bone and an Inspirer of this life saving activity. Swamiji, himself is an centurion blood donor (donated 117th times). Swamiji is on His Divya Tour to the West at present. In absence of Swamiji, the award was received by Ashram’s Vice President and Trustee Sri Arun Oza and Secretary Smt. Poonam Thawani on Oct 1, 2008 on a special day ” All India Voluntary Blood Function day” designated by Indian Red Cross Society. The function was held at Tagore Hall in august presence of H. E. Governor of Gujarat, Pandit Sri Nawal Kishore Sharmaji. Indian Red Cross felicitated Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad for organizing blood donation camps “Navaratri”-Worship of God as a Mother (Sept 30, 2008 – Oct 9, 2008): Navaratri is traditionally time for Devi worship, a period of introspection and purification. It was an intense Sadhana time at the ashram during nine days of Navaratri. Many Sadhaks with residential Swamis’ of the Ashram engaged in Devi worships. Each day early morning prayers & worship services offered to Sri Sri Sri Maa Aadi Shakti at Sri Sri Sri Maa Ashta Laxmi Bhawan by Pandit Sri Kamlesh Kumar Jha. Also Srimad Bhagavad Gita Parayan and Shree Durga Saptsati (Chandi Path) was organized where a great number of devotees participated as a part of the Navaratri Sadhna. Durga Saptashati is Devi Mahatmaya of seven hundred Mantras, considered very potent. It forms a part of the Markandeya Purana, one of the 18 important puranas of Hinduism. On Ashtami day, about two hundred Kanyas-Batuks were worshipped in Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhawan and were served with Prasad of , fruits, sweets, toys, biscuits, dakshina, saree etc. All children with their parents also were served Maha Prasad. Ashtalaxmi Darshan – Navaratri Ashtami Yajana & Kanya-Batuk Pujan Nights were rejoiced in the worship of Mother Durga in the form of traditional garba and dandia-ras through all nine days of Navratri. Sri Manish Majmudar and Smt. Pramaben Mankodi added a great flavor through their melodious singing and made the whole atmosphere vibrating. Several hundred devotees used to play garbas daily, some days it passed to thousands as other groups joined too, namely Soni Mahila Mandal, Samast Nagar Sankalan Samittee, Ahmedabad organized garba and more than thousand people participated in the Devi worship to Mother Jagdamba . Also about three hundred Senior Citizens from various Old Age Homes were arranged to be brought in this joyous festivity. Singer & devotee couple Sri Jayesh Nayak and Smt. Seema Trivedi along with their orchestra group provided vibrant rhythm for garbas for the crowd of about three thousand young & old all together. Sharad Poornima festival was celebrated once again with garba singing by Smt. Mayurikaben Oza. Deepavali Blessings from H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Radiant Immortal Divinities! Devotees are busy preparing various food varieties for a grand Annakoot offering to Maa Shree Ashtalaxmi on Diwali day which marks the culmination of Diwali festival. On Dhanteras day (Oct 26th), a large number of devotees will be joining a group Yantra Pooja at Sri Sri Sri Maa Ashta Laxmi Bhawan. On the occasion of Golden Jubilee Celebration ‘Shree Lunawada Nagar Mandal has organized to perform fifty one Kundi Gayatri Yajna on Oct 26th at the Ashram. On Diwali day (Oct 28th), Ashram is expecting several thousand people for Annakoot darshan and to receive the Lord’s Blessings. It is a great time, a time to rejoice in the Lord, Thanks Giving time for one and all, Young and Old. The Karmayoga in real sense begins after Diwali Annakoot, as all type of sweets, snacks, chocolates, cakes, fruits, offered to Maa gets packed up nicely in small packages by devotees during the night at the ashram to be distributed on next day, a New Year day to thousands of Daridranarayanas in slum area of the city. News from Siva Yoga Center Upcoming Yoga Teachers Training Course (YTTC) Dec 11, 2008 – Dec 30, 2008. Enhance your skill in Yoga, be a teacher and spread the knowledge to others.You can accomplish all that by systemically learning from a Master. Join YTTC at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. During your stay at the Ashram, you will be provided a comfortable room and yogic diet ( three meals / day). Ashram’s holy atmosphere is ideal for enhancing your spiritual growth as well as the skill in the field of science of Yoga. On completion of three weeks residential YTTC and successfully passing the test including theory and practical, the graduate will receive a diploma certificate recognized by Gujarat University and will be able to teach Yogasana and pranayama to others.The donation for the course is Rs. 6000.00/ $ 200. As always, during the month of October services provided through Reiki sessions, Yoga treatment , Acupressure treatment, Homeopathy clinic to the sick & needy. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandji Maharaj, families in underprivileged area of the town received “Diwali Annakoot prasad” of Maa Sri Ashtalaxmi from Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. During the month of November, about 350 new comers participated in the morning classes. Similarly for Reiki Classes level I & Level II were conducted and more people got benefited. Dr. Snehal Amin, who has returned from his foreign tour after three months, has already started his counseling services at Yoga Clinic of the Ashram. Many patients are befitted by acupressure treatment given regularly by Dr. (Mrs.) Monaben Shah. Nutritious food in packages were distributed to children through Narayan Seva and 600 kg. wheat & grain distributed to the needy and poor by ashram’s Vishwanath Seva Kendra. Devotees joined in worship services at the temple & regular satsangs were held . On Nov 5,2008 ” Aayush Homam” was performed for Shri Arunbhai Oza, Trustee & Vice president of the Ashram on his 60th birthday at the ashramand Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj conveyed his blessing to him on this occasion through telephone from Winnipeg (Canada). On November 15, 2008, One day yoga seminar was organized at the ashram for the benefit of 75 staff members of Advertising and communication service Ltd under the guidance of Yoga teacher Ms. Sangeeta Thawani. Spiritual Tours & Programs of H. H. SriSwami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj during the month of November 2008 Concluding of “Divya Tour 2008” report of H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj…………. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji’s “Divya Tour 2008” with wonderful satsang at Chicago, His last stop of this tour in USA. It was a special prayer offered for Sri Harish Kapoor, who is going through pains & sufferings because of terminal cancer. Pujya Swmiji’s divine presence and kirtan brought light, joy & hope to Sri Harishji & all the members of His family, who have been depressed and stressed from long standing illness of their beloved Harishji. It brought solace and comforts to them. During the “Divya Tour 2008”, Pujya Swamiji’s divine satsang and yoga teaching has brought joy, peace & bliss to countless spiritual aspirants and yoga enthusiasts in the West. People appreciated His simplicity, sincerity and down to earth simple living, a Yoga way of Living, in True sense. HE received warm welcome everywhere He went. Sri Swamiji worked tirelessly without looking at his own physical comforts. Sri Swamiji’s day started around 5.00am / 5.30am and filled with morning yoga session, home stasngs, home visits, bhiksha (to honor devotees’ wishes), evening satsangs, special requests, press interviews, TV interviews, visit to sick ones, prayer for depressed ones etc… till the late at night around 10.30pm/11.00pm most of the days. And not to forget, the long distance driving and delay because of road constructions. But, what do you see when you meet Swamiji (at any time of the day), ever Vibrant, Charming, Radiant, Joyful, Peaceful face to inspire others. People asked him the secrets of His ever joyful nature? “Abide In The SELF”, He says……….”, “In all condition I am Bliss , Bliss, Bliss Absolute……” “Adopt, Adjust & Accommodate…… ” Each breath of His, is in the remembrance of GOD and in the service of His Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Mahahraj & Gurubhagvan Sri Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj. Also the devotees from all over including USA, UK, Taiwan and Canada visited the ashram. Twenty three participants from UK, USA, Canada and India joined the course. In addition to Yogasan, Pranayam, Kriyas, Mudras, Bandhas and Meditation, Anatomy, Physiology, Education Psychology, Management Behavior, Planning, Patanjali Yoga Darshan, comparative study of Yoga was taught by eminent experts during the YTTC. Examination was taken and certificates were awarded by H. E. the Governor of Gujarat, Pandit Sri Nawal Kishore Sharmaji at Raj Bhavan, Gandhinagar. In his valedictory speech, he praised the services rendered to humanity through Sivananda Ashram under the leadership of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Here to quote his words, “You all are fortunate to learn the science of Yoga from Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, a worthy disciple Most Worshipful H.H. Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj. These great Gurus are the very treasure of Mother India to protect our community and the world community too. I know Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji personally; he has dedicated his life for the betterment of mankind and for the upliftment of society. I have been to Sivananda Ashram a number of times and I feel and experience great peace and tranquility. I am a great admirer of Swamiji. It is not flattering; I am really a great admirer of him and feel happy for all his wonderful activities.” 725th Yogasana Camp (Dec 22, 2008 –Dec 31, 2008): 725th Yogasana camp was organized at the Ashram premises. 730 candidates joined the camp. Mrs. Ravi Jayanti IAS, Commissioner for Higher Education inaugurated the camp. Swamiji’s book “Yog, a j Jivan” (Gujarati) and its English translation “Yoga, a Way of Life”, published by Gujarat Times Publication and Gurjar Granth Ranta Karyalaya were released by Dr. Tejas Patel, Dr. Mayur Patel, Dr. Swetang Pancholi, Dr.Anish Kshatriya and Ina Patel. This book is a compilation of articles (of last two years) published by Gujrat Times weekly news paper from New York and Canada.On Dec 28, 2008 in the morning a blood donation camp was organized at the Ashram. In the evening grand Garba and potluck dinner was enjoyed by all. Christmas Eve celebration (Dec 24, 2008): Christmas Eve was celebrated at the ashram in all serenity on Dec 24, 2008 night with Christmas carols and hymns from holy Bible. On Dec 6, 2008 Sri Aasthak Samaj of Ahmedabad organized a grand Sri Ayyapan Puja in holy Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan of the Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Holy Sri Ayyapan worship is famous in South India. It is a disciplined worship. Here one has to live with all kinds of discipline – physical, mental, food, personal habits etc. and also must follow strict rituals. The atmosphere in the ashram was agog with traditional South Indian music of Vedic hymns from Krishna Yajurved from early morning till late night. Other News. On Dec 10, 2008 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj was invited for 30th anniversary of Archan Institute of Indian classical dance at the famous Tagore Hall of Ahmedabad. On Dec 27 at noon Sri Swamiji addressed a large gathering of Gujarat University Students and Professors community on the subject of “Efficient Leadership”. A one-day workshop was organized at Taipei by China Yoga Association in memory of Yogini Dr. Helen Hown. Sima Trivedi and Sri Jayesh Naik was enjoyed by all. Light talks of Sri Dinker Mehta relaxed everyone. “Project Manav Seva” at Divya Jivan Sanskrutik Sangh, Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad. Project Manav Seva is an extensive program guided by Sri Swami Adhyatmananda Saraswati that focuses on holistically helping the needy and indigent populations. Under his guidance, programs specifically geared towards helping the needy and disabled have grown and flourished successfully. Project Manav Seva has been carried out by the Bhagwan shri Vishwanath Mahadev Seva Kendra, Sivanand Ashram for the last 15 years and continues to grow by leaps and bounds in the advancement of current programs which address the alleviation of suffering of the sick, disabled & elderly. The ultimate goal of this program is to further spiritual growth for both those served and those providing service while simultaneously making a difference in people’s lives. Publications Newsletters News In Slide Show Maha Shivaratri Utsav at the Ashram (Feb 23, 2009) Chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” charged the air of Sivananda Ashram with Divine vibrations as they celebrated Sacred Maha Shivratri on Feb 23, 2009. Holy Shri Vishwanath Temple was agog with worship of Lord Shiva. It started with Shodshopachar Pujan at 4.00 am on Feb 23rd and continued until the next day 4.00 am. on Feb 24th). Continuous flow of devotees came to the Lord Vishvanath Temple to pray and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva – who is considered Ashutosh, who gets pleased very easily. The Siva Lingam was worshipped by washing it with milk, curd, honey and rose water as the chants of Vedic Hymns, Namakam, Chamakam, Rudram and “Om Namah Shivaya” in praise of Shiva continued. Shiva Lingam was adorned with special Shringar and Rev. Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj performed Bhasma Arati. Shiva temple was full of Bel (Bilva) leaves, which were offered to the Lingam. Bel leaves are believed to be very sacred and the best offering to Lord. Also there is a strong belief that sincere worship of Lord Shiva on the auspicious day of Shivaratri, absolves person of sins and liberates him from the cycle of birth and death. Bhakti Sangeet (Devotional Songs) in praise of the Lord from 5.00 P.M. to 5.00 A. M through out the night by outstanding singers Sri Shyam Sankirtan group, Smt. Dr. Monica Shah of Aradhana School of Indian Classical Music, Pandit Sri Krishnakant Parikh, Sri Vikas Chandra Parikh, Sri Matang Parikh and Miss. Himali Vyas brought a special fervor to already charged atmosphere.On 24th mid-day a grand Bhandara was served to hundreds of devotees at the ashram. Mr. Nitin Mukesh (a famous Cine Artist and singer) also visited ashram with his family and paid homage to Lord Vishwanath on Shivratri Festival. Mahaprasad was served to all on next day.. 17th YTTC (Yoga Teacher’s Training Course) through Sivananda International Vedanta and Yoga Academy (SIVA ) 17th Advance Yoga Teacher’s Training Course for advanced Yoga students was organized through SIVA( Sivananda International Vedanta and Yoga Academy )at Sivananda Ashram, Ahmedabad from Feb 12, 2009 – March 3, 2009. This was for a special group of dedicated and committed yoga teachers from Taiwan and Japan. The entire group consisted of 34 participants of senior yoga teachers from Taiwan. “We have learned the Science of Yoga, Pranayam and in depth Psychosomatics of Yogic life at Sivananda Ashram.During the three weeks at the ashram we were taught yoga, based on Patanjal Yoga Darshan.We have been concentrating on Yoga postures but to learn all different aspect of Yoga way of Life is a real key to Peace, happiness and Bliss.”- These were the feelings in general of the yoga participants. On completion of course and candidates went through the exam. Award ceremony was performed by H. E.Governor of Gujarat Sri Nawal Kishor Sharmaji at Rajbhavan ,Gandhinagar.President of China Yoga Association and President of Taiwan Yoga and Sports Authority and also very Senior Yoga Director Yogi Wu were honored with a special title of “Yoga Prachar Ratna” by H. E. Governor of Gujarat.. Mauna Shibir at Nareshwar (Feb 1, 2009 – Feb 5, 2009) Spiritual Retreat (Mauna, Dhyana & Japa Shibir) (Feb 1, 2005- Feb 5, 2009) Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh organized five- day Spiritual Retreat in Sri Rang Sadan Nareshwar at the holy ashram of Sri Rang Avadhootji Maharaj, located on the banks of Narmada River. Seventy Sadhaks from all over Gujarat including Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj attended the retreat. The program consisted of one and half hours of group meditation 5.30 A. M. to 7.00 A. M., 8.30 A.M. to 10.00 A. M., 10.30 A. M. To 12.00 noon, 2.00 P.M. To 3.30 P. M., 4.00 P.M. to 5.30 P.M. and 8.00 P. M. to 9.00 P.M six times a day. For rest of the day sadhaks in total silence spent their time in prayers, japa and spiritual reading. Satvik and salt less simple food was served to all during their stay. Dr. Sri Indubhai Amin, devotee of Lord Dattatreya looked after the comforts, lodging and boarding of sadhaks for which members of spiritual retreat are highly indebted to him. Sadhaks returned homes enriched and wishing to have such retreat more often. Other News Bharat Scouts and Guides Centenary Jamboree 2009 was held at University Ground in Ahmedabad. About 7000 Scouts came from all over India to attend this one of a kind function including, H. E. Governor of Karnataka Mr. Rameshwar Thakkar, Mr. Nitin Shah , Home Minister of Gujarat and H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj from Sivananda Ashram. Mr. Fakir Waghela Minister of Social Justice and Justice Mr. Kalpesh Zaveri also attended the concluding session of National Jamboree of Bharat Scouts and Guide. On Feb 25, 2009 forenoon Sri Swamiji Maharaj addressed a large gathering of Grade 10th & 12th High School Children. Swamiji’s helpful Tips to the children “Give Exam (Tests) cheerfully” without any tension were really moving. This program was organized by leading News Paper Sandesh at Town Hall, especially for the benefit of students in the stress during Examination. On Feb 28, 2009 fifty two Tricycles were distributed to fifty two handicapped people at the ashram. This was possible because of the kind support of Dr. C. T. Mehta Rehab Centre, Baroda. Each Tricycle was customized and personalized for fruits hawker, flower merchant or tea staler, as per the preference of the disabled individual. Lunch was served to all disabled and their assistants. Also to all the volunteers from Blind man Association and Dr. C. T. Mehta Rehab Center, Baroda. Special thanks to Sri. Jaywant Mehta, who is the Director of Rehab Centre. Mumbai (Feb 7, 2009) – Sri Vadnagar Nagar Mandal, Mumbai celebrated its Centenary festival in holy presence of H. H. Sri Hanuman Jayanti ( April 9, 2009 ) On April 9, 2009 A full moon day Holy Sri Hanuman Jayanti, a birth of Lord Hanuman was celebrated at Sri Dukh Bhanjan Hanuman temple of Ashram. A Maruti Yajna with Archana and Path of Sunderkand was organized and great number of devotees participated in this special worship to the Lord Hanuman. In communion with Bal Krishna during Bhagvat Saptah Srimad Bhagvat Saptah (April 13, 2009 – April 20, 2009 ) Holy Srimad Bhagavat Katha was organized at Ashram’s Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan. Daily 9.30am to 11.30 am and from 4.00pm to 6.00 pm group chanting of Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra japa was performed at Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan by large number of devotees. On 30th evening from 8.00 to 9.00 P.M. Dr. Swami Muktanandaji Maharaj gave soul elevating discourse that was followed by a spectaculars dance Ballet ‘NARI’ in Bharatnatyam style by artist of Nrutya Bharati, directed by Sri Chandan Thakore. They performed number of other presentation with great deal and depth of esthetic sense. On May 1, 2009 evening most worshipful and revered. Publications Newsletters News In Slide Show Sri Ramnavmi Utsav at the Ashram ( April 3, 2009 ): During Holy Chaitra Navratri, a group recitation of Holy Sri Ram Charit Manas Parayan continued from March 27, 2009 to April 3, 2009 . On April 3,2009 Holy Sri Ram Navami , Birth of Lord Sri Rama was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at the ashram. Sri Hanuman Jayanti ( April 9, 2009 ) On April 9, 2009 A full moon day Holy Sri Hanuman Jayanti, a birth of Lord Hanuman was celebrated at Sri Dukh Bhanjan Hanuman temple of Ashram. A Maruti Yajna with Archana and Path of Sunderkand was organized and great number of devotees participated in this special worship to the Lord Hanuman. In communion with Bal Krishna during Bhagvat Saptah Srimad Bhagvat Saptah (April 13, 2009 – April 20, 2009 ) Holy Srimad Bhagavat Katha was organized at Ashram’s Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan. Pujya Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji was on Vyasasan and daily discourses from 3.00 P.M. to 7.00 pm by Swamiji enlightened the large number of devotees In the episode of Lord Sri Krishna’s birth and His wedding were celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. On April 17, 2009 Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj addressed a large gathering of Femina Club of Lioness Club of Ahmedabad. Sri Swamiji spoke on the subject of “Need of Spirituality in Household Life”. The session of question and answer was very lively and interesting. Utsav Triveni at the Ashram ( April 27, 2009 –May 3, 2009) From 28th April “Utsav Triveni” commenced with great and deep love for the Lord. On 28th April Holy Birthday of Sri Adi Sankaracharya was celebrated by remembering him and his teachings of Vedant. H. H. Sri Swami Viditatmanandaji Maharaj (Acharya, Tatva Tirth, Ahmedabad), Dr. Swami Muktanandaji Maharaj (Todarpur, Rajasthan), H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj, Rev. Swamini Vidya Prakashananda Mataji, Brahmacharini Divya Prem Mataji of the Divine Life Society, Kendrapara (Orissa) expressed their thoughts and teachings of Sri Adi Shankaracharya. On April 29, 2009 Brahmotsava of Sri Sri Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan and Sri Swami Chidananda Yoga – Dhyan Mandir was celebrated with early morning Sri Yantra Pooja, Sri Navchandi Yajna, Bhandara and holy hymn singing in praise of God as mother by Sri Ajay Yagnikji of Delhi. 65 th Birthday celebration of H.H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanndaji Maharaj From April 30, 2009 to May 3, 2009 was a special at the ashram on the occasion of Pujya Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj 65th Birthday celebration. Daily 9.30am to 11.30 am and from 4.00pm to 6.00 pm group chanting of Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra japa was performed at Sri Ashta Laxmi Bhavan by large number of devotees. On 30th evening from 8.00 to 9.00 P.M. Dr. Swami Muktanandaji Maharaj gave soul elevating discourse that was followed by a spectaculars dance Ballet ‘NARI’ in Bharatnatyam style by artist of Nrutya Bharati, directed by Sri Chandan Thakore. They performed number of other presentation with great deal and depth of esthetic sense. On May 1, 2009 evening most worshipful and revered. Dr. Anantananda Mataji of Vehlal (Gujarat) poured her heart full of love for Revered Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj praised Pujya Swamiji contribution to the humanity. Also light music by Sri Nayan Pancholi and classical devotional music by Pandit Nirajchandra Parikh, which continued until late. On May 2, 2009 Birthday eve of Pujya Swamiji Maharaj, renowned Bhagavat Scholars Sri Bhagavat Rishi from famous Bhagavat Vidyapith, Sola graced the occasion. He expressed his great regards & reverence for Rev. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. Devotional music and folklore by Smt. Trupti Chhaya and Sri. Dharmanshu Raval captured the crowd up to midnight. At 12.00 am hours devotees felicitated H. H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj. In Brahma Muhurta of May 3, 2009 a prayer and meditation session was organized with the large number of Yoga students of ashram’s regular yoga classes. Rev. Sri Swamiji was led to all Holy Shrines and temple ceremoniously with Vedic chants by learned scholars and Pandits. From 7.30 to 10.00 A.M. there was Aayushya Homam was performed at the Yajna Shala in front of Sri Vishvanath Temple. Mid-day grand lunch (Bhandara) was served to all. In the afternoon, Board of Trustees meeting of Gujarat Divya Jivan Sangh was held. Also a Blood Donation camp was organized in the evening from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Evening session of May 3rd commenced with Ms. Himalee Vyas’s memorable vocal music. “Gospel of Swami Sivananda” and “Jivan Yoga” two Gujarati books were released by H. E. Governor of Gujarat. H. E. also awarded Dr. H. L. Trivedi (Director Kidney Hospital, Ahmedabad), Dr. Anil Srivastava (Cardiologist) of Sri Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital – Lucknow (North India), Dr. Mrugank G. Merchant (Orthopedic Surgeon, Baroda) with title of ‘Manav Bhushan” for their deserving service to humanity. Dr. Naren Joshi (Family Physician) Bhavnagar, Dr. Ashok Baxi (Pediatrics) Bhavnagar, Sri. Arvind Mehta Director of Ashakta Ashram, Hospital, Surat, Sri. Prabhunath Rai International President of Bhojpuri Samaj, Lucknow was awarded with the title of ‘Seva Ratan’. Renowned Yoga Teacher Sri Vinay Kohli of Karma Yoga Association, Karnal (Haryana) was honored with the title of ‘Yoga Ratan”. Disciple of renowned vocal maestro Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Nirajchandra Parikh was honored with the title of ‘Sangeet – Vibhushan’ and Sri. Hariharbhai Kapdi (Bhavnagar). Smt. Mayurika Oza, Sri. Nayan Pancholi, Ms. Himalee Vyas and Ms. Aishwarya Majmudar (Chhote Ustad, Amul Star Voice of India) were awarded with the title of ‘Sangeet Ratna”. E. Publications Newsletters News from Sivananda Ashram Divya Darshan of Lord Sri Jagganath, Sri Subhadraji & Sri Balramji During Ratha-Yatra at Sivananda Ashram Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) of the Lord Jagannatha at the Ashram ( June 24, 2009 ) The significance of Chariot Festival as per Vedic scriptures is that anyone who sees Lord Jagannatha or pulls His chariots earns an immense spiritual benefits. By His supreme potency, the Lord agrees to personally enter the form of Deity, just to accept the loving service of His devotees. In this sense the Deity is non-different from the Lord Himself. And once a year Lord Jagannatha comes forth in His entire magnificent splendor to enjoy the Ratha-yatra parade and show Himself to all. At our ashram, we had a graceful Ratha Yatra on June 24, 2009 . The Idols of Lord Sri Jagannatha, brother Balaramji & sister Subhadraji were adorned splendidly after ceremoniously worshipped by temple priest. Then the idols were mounted on the silver thrown in decorated chariot and brought out for the procession. It was a joyous occasion for all. Devotees were singing and dancing in the praise of the Lord. Devotees present on the occasion experienced the Divine Presence of the Lord. On this auspicious day “Sri Lakshmi Homam” was performed with 108 recitations of Sri Shuktam at Sri Sri Sri Ashta Lakshmi Bhavan. Regular Ashram Activities At Ashram regular Yoga classes in seven batches for beginners and advanced yoga students carried out this month as usual. About four hundred new people enrolled. Reiki Seminar There were two Reiky seminars were held under the leadership of Reiky Master Mrs. Rupa Majmundar. In the month of June for the Reiki Training seminar, thirty people in Level – I and thirty two people in Level -II thirty participated . In the last eleven years of Reiki Training at the ashram 2808 persons in Level I and 1162 in Level II course benefited, that is total of 4030 participants benefited. Sivananda Clinic at the Ashram – Dr. Snehal Amin’s consultation on how to cure diseases by yogic science continues and number of patients who got benefitted increasing day by day. Many devotees participated in regular religious worships at the Ashram namely Guru Paduka Pooja on Thursday, a special evening worship at Sri Ashtalaksmi Bhavan on Friday, Sri Sunderkand Path on Saturday, a special Satsang on Sunday and daily night satsangs. Also Sri Lalita Sahasranam at Sri Ashtalakshmi Bhavan and Sri Satyanarayan pooja on full Moon day were performed.On the holy occasion of Vat Savitri and Somvati Amavasya special Pujas and Abhishekatmak Laghurudras were offered by devotees. As always, on first Sunday Grain distributed to needy and on 3 rd of the month feeding to poor were done. Nutritious food was provided to children under Narayana seva project run by the Ashram. About 600 Kg grain was distributed to forty underprivileged families. Daily Satsang and pujas are performed regularly in the temples. On the holy occasion of Vat Savitri and Somvati Amavasya special Pujas and Abhishekatmak Laghurudras were offered by devotees. A meeting of Ashram’s executive samitee was held on the eve of Rev. Swamiji Maharaj’s “Divya Tour 2009” and it was decided that the executive samitee meeting twice/month on second and forth Sunday of every month. In the month of June, Samitee meetings were held on 2nd and 4th Sunday to plan the ashram activities and mission in general. Last meeting on fourth sunday, the members of executive samitee came along with their families and after the meeting all took Maha Prasad (Lunch) together in the ashram. Divya Tour 2009″ of H.H. Sri Swami Adhyatmanandaji Maharaj Divya Tour 2009 – In Slide Show May 31, 2009 – July 2 , 2009 London (U.K.): Early morning on May 31Sri Swami Adhyatmananadji Maharaj arrived at Heathrow air port London. After attending and blessing the wedding couple Smt.& Sri Akhil Patel (son of Smt. Hema and Sri Jagdish Patel) at Spanish manor, Sri Swamiji arrived at Bristol. After spending three days at Bristol with Smt. Chandramaniben Taylor and Sri Dharmendraji’s family; Swamiji came to Sutton Surrey and stayed here for three days. At Surrey, Swamiji visited number of ailing devotees and also conducted satsang at the holy abode of many devotees. Sri Swamiji Maharaj arrived at Newark airport and was received by Smt. Tejal and Sri Amit Shah and Sri Suresh Patel (Yogacharya of Kerney Temple of NJ) From the airport Sri Swamiji Maharaj was driven to the meeting of board members of Vishva Hindu Parishad of America. After two hours long meeting about running of Hindu University of Orlando, Florida, Sri Swamiji addressed a large gathering of VHPA regarding, “How we can protect Hinduism and its implication in forthcoming generation”. there after Swamiji was received by Sri Mohit Thawani & spent a night with Thawani family, next morning Swamiji arrived at Toms River county at the Mansion of Smt. Hema and Respected Dr. Nikunj Mehta.
